Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
if you're in a league and you re look your team over and think.. hm. this is bad. here's a few options you could look at, if you want a change.
Mark Clayton- Just got sent to the Rams, Sam Bradford looked brilliant in the first couple weeks in preseason. He's becoming the number 1 or 2 target there just by walking on the field with Avery sitting out. I'd take a look at him.
Darius Heyward-Bay- This man is the number 1 receiver for Oakland. And I know most of you look at him and shrug, "so?" Well, a number 1 target is still number 1. With Russell out of the starting gig, the new QB might lead Bey to a decent line for weeks to come, until Chaz comes back between weeks 3-6.
Mike Williams (Sea)- He's becoming the number 1 receiver in Seattle after letting TJ Housh go, and I think this lifts his value greatly. Yeah, Forsett and Leon Washington look good. But you can't pass up a number 1 option.
Jacoby Jones- I have no idea what the percentage of people owning this guy is, but it should be close to 85% by the middle of the season. Schuab says Johnson and Jones will take over, along with Arian Foster running the show. These 4 should be great, especially having Jones in the mix.
Dexter McLuster- Who? Yep, top target for Matt Cassel and the Chiefs this year. Another top target that people might overlook and say, "Pish-aw. I have plenty of good people right here." But, players get injured. So, I advise you to keep him on your watch list, at least.
Nate Burleson- He's in Detroit now, finally, another receiver Matt Stafford can throw too. He's added Best/Nate to the team after suffering last year. If Stafford can step it up, Burleson might be a great fit, if he's able to stay healthy.
Finally, ALL CLEVELAND WR- I mean, Joshua Cribbs, Mohammed Massaquoi? These people are great pick ups if they're still available. Cribbs is one of the fastest on the team, if he uses his break away speed wisely, he'd be a FANTASTIC sleeper pick. Most people look down at Cleveland, but they've given us Jerome Harrison, and that's good enough for me to recommend these 2 (if not already taken up).
I'll be posting more options soon.
Im thinking Berrian could be put in the same category as Burleson, Favre will definitely be looking for someone to take over Rice's role for the 6+ weeks he's out. But of course once hes back then its time to move on...
i would also say Steve Breaston though im pretty sure he's owned in 75% of leagues or something like that. He will take over as the second guy in Arizona, unfortunately for him Warner is gone but he was always productive as a third WR behind Bolden and Fitz. I think he has great potential this year with Fitz getting the double coverage allllll day.
Not really sure about Crayton right away but i think people should keep an eye out for him while V. Jackson is holding out. Gates cant take all the glory and i dont really have high expectations for Floyd but he could be a surprise. We will see...
I dont really agree with guys like Clayton doing much of anything on a team like the Rams when he was never that good as it is. While they are a running team and Bradford probably wont be much better than Stafford was. Heyward-Bey will continue to be a bust for a couple most years, or he could always be another Hester... not too good. They are all players on weak offensive teams and not worth a look unless people are in 15+ team leagues. And Jones is 3rd on the depth chart as of week 1, Walter is ahead of him. I would prefer guys like Devery Henderson, Austin Collie and even Julian Edelman at this point.
Agree on McCluster for sure, we got another Harvin on our hands. KC better have lots of tricks under their sleeve with this guy. Even Chambers should be on this list before these other guys.

Berrian! Knew I missed a name out there. With Sidney Rice out practically forever, he'll make a big name in Minny too. Even with the talent out there.
And Breaston wasn't included because he's already the 2 slot in Arizona, he's an obvious look at. AND! If you're interested in arizona receivers with Anderson as a QB. Early Doucet might take over the number 2 receiving slot. Put him on the watch list.
Crayton should be decent, but think about it. They love Sproles, they love Mathews, they love Floyd. Crayton would be like a 4th option, if you think about it. So, not much love for him. But he'll be interesting to watch.
And the reason I think Clayton will be big is because Bradford is showing early potential to be great and Clayton had some big plays in Baltimore catching 2nd/3rd slot receiver. Which is pretty decent, considering he's now going to get more looks and plays specialized FOR HIM.
i think you make some good points. however...dont agree on one.

while he may wear the label "#1 WR"...he's actually been the #1 disappointment for this team, if you exclude their former QB.
Zach Miller has been their #! receiver for two years running and is expected to have even higher number this season. Heyward-Bay always comes up ...but as i alluded to earlier...so far, he's been nothing but a total bust.

Miller might be the number one looker on the team, but Bey can hold his own. He put up some decent numbers in the preseason. And they want him to be a number one target.
But I also like Louis Murphy on the team. The guy averaged 25.7 yards a catch in the preseason this year! Weird right? haha.
