Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
i got offered peyton manning for rashard mendenhall
my qbs are chad henne and kevin kolb
and my rbs are maurice jones drew, mendenhall, ryan matthews, pierre thomas, jahvid best, and arian foster
the guy who is offering peyton manning has aaron rodgers at qb and ap, ronnie brown, marion barber, darren sproles, and lt.
what do you guys think?
I assume you didn't mention your WR's because they are junk. So you will be starting one of your RB's in the flex spot.
So you: UPGRADE Henne to Manning
DOWNGRADE Mendenhall to Thomas, I guess.
I personally think the upgrade in points per game is bigger than your downgrade (manning maybe as much as 3-4 points per game better than Henne, Thomas maybe 2 ppg worse than Mendenhall.
So I say do it. Trust your own player evaluations of those 4 players to make a decision though.
Henne and Kolb are in Wild cat offenses. Why doesn't anyone seem to care about that? In an 8 team league they will destroy your season. Anyone remember Pennington's numbers in that system, or McNabb's last year? Do you really think Henne and Kolb are THAT much better than Pen or McNabb? Why is this so hard for people to understand? Get rid of Mend, you need Manning too badly.

lol i understand for henne that his numbers wont be that great because hes in a run-central team
but how do u mistake kevin kolb for being in a wildcat offense?
mcnabb, i think was the 15th quarterback in regualar scoring, despite missing i think it was 2~3 games
that being said, u should do the trade because mendenhall will be a huge bust this year, the expectations are too high for him without a decent qb, an offensive line that really isnt that much better from last year while manning is a proven top 5 QB year after year
I say do it, and do it quick. Pittsburgh's line may not be all that was expected, and teams will be locked on stopping the run for a while. You can drop one of your other QBs if you have Manning and pick up a hidden treasure, like Ricky Williams, Justin Fargas (depending on Moreno and Buckhalter's recovery), or some other back that has high ceiling to spend time on your bench behind an otherwise young but mighty set of backs.
The guy is DYING for a starting RB - he doesn't really have a 'stud' starting RB and Mendenhall is it.
OTOH you are not in REAL need of Peyton, the two you have will suffice. Will Peyton get you more points? Not as many points as Mendenhall will give your opponent (points difference).
I would not do it.
I love it Mendenhall is great, but I believe he will not be as good as MJD or Mathews, so basically you trade your number 3 rb and in return get your number 1 QB. Then you can just waive Henne in an 8 man league there is plenty of depth on the waiver wire.
