Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
OK guys, I'm sold on Ray Rice. I don't think the people in my league think of him like I do. So, when is a good time to pick him up without paying too much?
I'm already going to have 2 backs by the time his spot comes up so should I pass on a 3rd WR or 1st TE to get him?
There is a lot of buzz about Ray Rice this year. I drafted Rice with the 89th pick in the 9th round. We had our draft early, on 8/7/2009. I dont think he will fall to me now in my next two drafts. I would say fill at least 5-6 roster spots before drafting Rice. He should be ur 3rd or 4th RB drafted.
Reason why... he will be a first round draft pick next year just like Forte, Chris Johnson, and Steve Slaton.
2008 Chris Johnson was ranked 129
2009 Chris Johnson 12
2009 Ray Rice 128
I have Ray Rice on all my teams. The close you get to Game i, the earlier you have to take him because more people find out about him. Sometimes even Yahoo will adjust the rank on a player when they know they screwed up the rank. Right now there are 2 huge sleepers ranked over 1000 - J Morgan is a WR2 option, and Glen Coffee is a RB3 option.
I've take Ray Rice as early as the 5th round and as late as the 14th round. Depends on how dumb or smart I think my league is by the players that they are drafting.
I would say take him in the 6th or 7th round in a 10 team league... right after McFadden goes of the board - I jump on Ray Rice... I leave willie Parker there and Jamal Lewis.
I think his ADP is 66 - so adjust to that. His rank is 128. So a lot of people are taking him early - he averages the middle of the 6th round in a 10 team draft.

Thanks, I think the 12 team should be pretty easy to get him. The others? Not so much. I just want to get him for the best value. Obviously I don't want to take him in the 2nd or 3rd round even though I think he will produce there.
You have it backwards. Opportunity is what makes a feature back. I don't care how good Rice could be with similar looks and touches, i only care about what he is going to get - and he wont get what Forte does. Forte doesn't have a McGahee or McClain to contend with. Rice does.
Nice player but he's in a RBBC and Forte is not.
