    fantasy football sucks...

the draft doesn't always guarantee results.
as one guy i know said, you can't win fantasy football in the draft, but you can lose it in the draft. you have to have a solid draft.
after the draft you can pick up guys as they emerge. two years ago i drafted 7th but won my league when i picked up jones-drew and a couple of other strong players on waivers (i still wish that i had picked up marques colston as a te). additionally, if you can get into the playoffs, you can win when people like ldt get reduced playing time once san diego clinches home field for the real playoffs.
last year i came in second in one league where i drafted ten out of ten when i drafted t.o. and adrian peterson at 10 and 11 and filled in with pickups of ryan grant (who had actually ever heard of ryan grant at the beginning of last year?) and dwayne bowe, among others. but i also selected third in another league and came in ninth when larry johnson and marvin harrison both fell to injuries--even though i also had ap on that team as well as carson palmer. the draft creates a foundation, but most drafts need to be augmented during the season.
