In Week 3, the St. Louis Rams delivered their best defensive performance of the season...and they still gave up 407 net yards and 37 points.
They're really not good, these Rams.
If you visit the sports page at the Post-Dispatch right now, you'll be greeted with this headline: "Lifeless, helpless and hopeless." There's also a photo of several members of the Rams defense seated on a bench, looking exhausted, beaten, and -- as the headline suggests -- completely without hope.
For fantasy purposes, and with the bye weeks upon us, this is fantastic news. The Rams face the Bills in Week 4, and many Buffalo skill position players are sitting out there in your league's free agent pool.
Quarterback Trent Edwards was picked up by 31,578 Yahoo! fantasy owners on Monday, and by 15,803 owners on Sunday. He's an excellent option in the week ahead. Edwards has been very good so far this season (244.3 YPG, 3 TDs), but you're really adding him for match-up reasons. If you need a tight end, consider Robert Royal (10 REC, 86 YDS, 1 TD). If you need a single-serving wide receiver, consider Josh Reed (13 REC, 145 YDS). This could be a fair week for the 18 percent-owned Fred Jackson, too.
Here's a quick look at the league's other user-friendly Ds, with both their Week 4 opponents and their fantasy playoff schedules...
