If I were drafting from scratch tonight (standard scoring, non-PPR), here's how I'd attack it. I welcome your respectful disagreement in the comments, but bring your A Game – if you disagree with a rank, offer a solid reason why and your preferred order of the players in question.

Comments: Tony Romo is one of the hardest guys to rank every week; this Dallas offense still looks like a whole that falls short of the sum of the parts. The goal-line execution hasn't been very good and at some point you stop getting lucky on those longer TDs (though Romo and friends do deserve credit for them, too). … Donovan McNabb is another tricky rank, maybe it's an NFC East thing. He's avoiding mistakes and he's pushed his YPA up to 7.6, but he's also completing a mediocre 58.9 percent of his passes and he's stopped the scrambling bit (73 yards). This is not a unit that sustains offense; even more than Dallas, the Eagles rely a little too much on the big play. … The presence of Vince Young in the Tennessee lineup changes how teams defend the Titans; you have to spy Young and respect his running ability, and that's probably helping Chris Johnson (who doesn't need much help anyway). … A lot has been made of Matt Ryan's growing pains but Joe Flacco's had some hiccups of late too, with three mediocre outings in his last five starts. He's thrilled to see Cincinnati off the schedule for good, but the Colts and Steelers come calling after this week's Cleveland stop. … The 3-7 slots could pretty much fall in any order. Aaron Rodgers would probably get the No. 3 nod if I were absolutely positive he will survive the pounding he's absorbing right now.

Comments: On the Top 11 backs, it's really just a matter of personal preference. If you own multiple guys here, you feel great about your team (mind you we don't have to hear about it; we all know you're the football poobah). … Gut feel tells me Steve Slaton gets another chance when the Texans get back from the bye. The Ryan Moats fumble at the Colts 1-yard line was exactly what Slaton owners want to see. … If the Chargers would dedicate 10 touches or more to Darren Sproles every week, I'd go a lot higher on his rank. … Jamal Lewis says he's retiring at the end of the year, but he sounds like a guy who wants to be out right now. Eric Mangini has that effect on people. … The Seahawks like to make decisions without my input, but I'd find more work for Justin Forsett. … It's hard to go any lower than the 30s on Knowshon Moreno considering his pedigree and upside, but we need a show of good faith before we can aggressively start him.

Comments: The Steelers use three wide receivers in their base offense, which keeps the dazzling Mike Wallace on the field. … The Arizona schedule pushes Fitzgerald back on top. Plus it's just cool to watch him flip the ball to the official after the score, no fancy dance. … I don't have a problem calling gadget plays and option passes like the Colts did with Reggie Wayne; the problems happen when the player isn't disciplined enough to chuck the ball out of play if the receiver isn't open. … I was pondering Roy Williams's rank and then this song came on my ipod. … Laveranues Coles scored a couple of touchdowns right before the bye week and he posted a 6-72 line out of the rest. He's a viable flex option now that Chris Henry is done for the year. … I've been really patient with Kevin Walter. I'm sick of waiting. … Just one score from Santonio Holmes (nothing since opening day) but I love this offense and I trust the quarterback, so there's a limit to how low you can go. Holmes did have a score called back by penalty in the Minnesota game. … Calvin Johnson rattled the cage a bit after the loss at Seattle, and he's finally practicing in full. Here's another guy we're all sick of waiting on, but I'm cautiously optimistic something happens in Minnesota.

Comments: Antonio Gates now has an end-zone bagel in 14 of his last 16 starts, and he was dropping everything in Jersey. Okay, but now Philly comes to town. … Brent Celek is a below-average blocker but his over-the-middle work is an essential part of the Eagles offense. … Brandon Pettigrew didn't have a score in his final collegiate season but he broke the seal in the NFL last week.
