Jay Glazer first tweeted the news, and it's since been confirmed by various other sources. Grant's injury was significantly worse than an ankle sprain; he reportedly has both a torn ligament and a fracture.
Even before this story broke, there was never any doubt regarding your No. 1 waiver priority. Brandon Jackson should have already been at the top of the list. He was recommended here, here, here, here, here and here. And probably elsewhere. We like him.
Jackson has an excellent matchup against Buffalo on Sunday, then he'll face Chicago and Detroit in Weeks 3 and 4. He's now the primary ball-carrier in an elite offense, and Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy has expressed total confidence in his abilities. John Kuhn(notes) is second in the Packers' backfield hierarchy, at least for now. Green Bay will no doubt add another tailback or two. Maybe they'll kick the tires on Marshawn Lynch(notes) while the Bills are in town. Or maybe they'll simply reach for the discard pile, where Willie Parker(notes) can be found.
If you were maybe thinking about making a conservative FAAB bid on Jackson … well, don't even bother. My guess is that you won't get a seat at the table unless you bring at least 60 fake dollars. Facing Buffalo, Jackson will likely rank as a top-12 back.
