All sorts of things are wrong with the Eagles right now, and Scott discussed their many issues in the Monday Brunch.
You really can't put it any better than this:
I can't endorse this team, I can't feel good about this team, I don't want my hand prints on this team any longer. You want points left on the table, endgame errors as a rule, a first-quarter malaise like it's part of the game script … well, these are your guys.
This week, NFL analysts are understandably focused on Donovan McNabb's lack of familiarity with the rules of his sport, while others have questioned yet another conservative fourth-and-one decision by the head coach.
But for fantasy owners, those things aren't nearly as important as the curious disappearance of Brian Westbrook. He looked fantastic against Atlanta in Week 8, following the Eagles' bye. Westbrook turned 28 touches into 209 yards and two TDs. Since that effort, however, he's been a massive disappointment. He's rushed for only 147 total yards in three games, and he's averaged just 3.1 yards per carry.
The Eagletarian offers plenty of insight today:
This Monday, as was noted in today's Daily News, Westbrook looked alarmingly hobbled as he navigated a NovaCare corridor. We were reminded of Fred Sanford's arthritic shuffle. (In light of recent events, perhaps we could have expanded that image, with BWest declaring: "Donovan, you big dummy!")
Westbrook upped the ante again on his ESPN 950 AM radio show this week, when he explained his success Sunday on draw plays, vs. a distinct lack of success with other types of runs, by saying that his high ankle sprain and knee troubles make it much easier for him to accelerate in a straight line these days than to cut sharply.
Westbrook also noted that a high ankle sprain doesn't really heal until the season is over.
Westbrook faces a rough match-up at Baltimore on Sunday, his ankle and knee (and presumably his ribs) are hurting, and he's clearly just a prop in the Andy Reid theater of pain. Expect a significant downgrade in the weekly running back ranks.
Like Scott, I can't endorse the Eagles, either.

Or should I bench him in favor of LJ, Dunn, Ward, or J. Stewart? I've got 2 RB slots and need to pick from these 5.
Almost, but not quite as frustrating as the Ravens' RB situation... Talk about unexpected bagels...

Thought it was smart then (especially with ESPN having Westbrook as the week's top-rated back). Feelin' pretty dumb now, knowing the Dolphin's friendly run schedule.
