Brett Lawrie arrives, will fix all that’s wrong in your lifeFinally, Brett Lawrie(notes) gets the call to the majors, so the fantasy surge can begin. Huge day for my fantasy portfolio. HUGE. Maybe the biggest since the Jered Weaver(notes) waiver claim of '06.

In a move related to Lawrie's promotion, the recently not-hot Travis Snider(notes) was shuffled back to Triple-A Las Vegas. Lawrie will get regular starts at third base for Toronto, nudging Jose Bautista(notes) back to the outfield.

This blog's archives are loaded with Lawrie propaganda, so you probably don't need to be reminded about his all-category talents. He's hit .353/.415/.661 this year, with 18 homers and 13 steals over 69 games at Vegas. At the moment he's eligible at second base in Yahoo! leagues, but he'll earn his third base credentials with five starts. Lawrie is an immediate add in any format. He suffered a fractured hand back in late-May, you'll recall, just when it first seemed that his call-up was imminent. His power appears to have returned, as he has six extra-base hits over his last eight minor league games.

This obviously gives the Jays a realistic shot to close that 13-game gap with the Red Sox, probably within a week. But, alas, Lawrie has been called up too late for his team to reach the single-season record for wins (116). Next year it's basically a lock.

Fearless forecast, rest-of-season: Badass.
