OK, so it's not quite like the Strasburg news, but it's something: Brad Lincoln(notes) and Jose Tabata(notes) will reportedly get the call on Wednesday, joining the Pirates in D.C.

Pittsburgh fans are no doubt eager to get a look at Lincoln, 25, the fourth overall selection in the 2006 MLB Draft. (You'll recall that he was taken ahead of a few notable names). The right-hander was 6-2 at Triple-A Indianapolis with a 3.16 ERA and 55 Ks in 68.1 innings. He hasn't allowed a run in either of his last two starts, and really only threw one clunker this year, a six-run outing on April 30. Lincoln's curve is considered a plus-pitch; his fastball is of the typical Pirate variety. He's not a pitcher that mixed leaguers need to jump on.

Tabata, however, might get interesting. We've discussed him before. He was acquired by the Bucs in the Xavier Nady(notes) deal — no one ever seems to call it "the Jeff Karstens(notes) deal" — and he's hitting .308 with an on-base percentage of .373 at Indianapolis. He also leads the International League in steals with 25. Tabata is expected to be an everyday outfielder in Pittsburgh, with Garrett Jones(notes) primarily playing first base. Jeff Clement(notes) and his .189 average have been optioned to Triple-A yet again.

If you're light on speed and you don't really need another homer, give Tabata a test drive.

Please note: The Lincoln/Tabata debut is not a live blog event.
