Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence has funny reply to notion Eli Manning has 'plenty left'

New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman wants to convince the world that Eli Manning is as good as ever.

There’s not much else he can say. Once the Giants made the decision to keep sticking with Manning, after passing on quarterbacks in last year’s draft, he had to defend his starter.

“We went into last season with Eli and thought he had plenty left,” Gettleman said Thursday at his pre-draft news conference, according to the team’s transcripts. “He proved that.”

Many would argue against Gettleman’s opinion that Manning proved he has plenty left in an up-and-down 2018 season. Dallas Cowboys star defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence might have.

DeMarcus Lawrence’s reaction to a comment on Eli

ESPN’s Field Yates found an interesting comment on an Instagram post about Gettleman saying he didn’t feel forced to draft a quarterback this season, despite Manning being 38.

Ah yes, the praying hands emoji from a division rival right under the “Giants are all in on Eli” comment. “Tanklawrence” is Lawrence’s account.

Maybe Lawrence just meant that it was a blessing for Manning to still be playing so well in his late 30s.

It’s a funny comment, perhaps a snarky dig at Manning, and nothing too serious.

Still, the Giants and Cowboys play in Weeks 1 and 9, in case you’re keeping track of such things.
