Illinois head coach John Groce continued to build on what is currently one of the nation’s best recruiting classes, as he added a commitment from Trent Frazier on Sunday. Frazier is one of the nation’s best scoring point guards. A 6-foot-1, he’s known for his ability to get into the lane, but part of the reason that he had a breakout July is that his jump shot was better. The Florida native ranks in the top 100 of just about every major recruiting service. He’ll join a 2017 Illini recruiting class that already includes five-star Jeremiah Tilmon, DaMonte Williams and Javon Pickett.
Having just come off celebrating a gold medal with his former star, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim says he doesn't think Carmelo Anthony will ever win that elusive NBA title. "He's unlikely to win an NBA title,'' Boeheim told reporters in Syracuse on Tuesday, according to the Post-Standard. "He's never been on a team that even had a remote chance of winning an NBA title. As a player, all you can do is try to make your team better and every team he's been on he's made them a lot better. Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo has previously expressed a desire to coach a game at the legendary Palestra in Philadelphia and it appears he’ll get his chance in a Big Ten game this season. According to a release from Penn State and first reported by Brendan F. Quinn of MLive, Penn State will use the Palestra as its home gym for the Jan. 7, 2017 Big Ten game against Michigan State. It is the only time the two teams are scheduled to play during Big Ten season and Penn’s home gym will offer a unique setting for the game. Since the capacity of the Palestra is 8,722, it should make for a fun atmosphere for both programs since this will be a game both fan bases will likely want to attend. “We
