Opposition alleges costs ballooning on proposed domed stadium in Saskatchewan
REGINA - The Saskatchewan government says it's too early to talk about the potential rising cost for a domed stadium in Regina when the project hasn't even been approved.
The Opposition NDP says consultant groups are talking about a price tag in the range of $480 million to $600 million - up from the $350 million estimate in a report released in July.
But Enterprise Minister Ken Cheveldayoff says he's never heard the numbers put forward by the NDP.
Cheveldayoff wouldn't specifically talk about the price tag, but he says any project would be "more modest" than the billion dollars spent on a stadium for the Cowboys in Dallas.
If approved, the new domed stadium would replace Mosaic Stadium, the aging home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders CFL team.
The province is looking for ideas from developers and is advertising for expressions of interest in the project.
