Sami Eleraky -- the 7-foot Danish center signed by the California Basketball program this summer -- did not qualify to play at a four-year university as per NCAA rules, and will instead play at Barton Junior College in Kansas for the required two years.
Eleraky chose to play so far away from his intended final destination because Barton was able to offer him a full scholarship, whereas JCs in California could not. He still intends on coming to Berkeley once his JuCo stint is finished, per a source.
Apart from Eleraky, the rest of the 2012 signing class made it through, and the Bears are "a full 15-strong" according to a source in the program.
