BERKELEY — The 115th Big Game between Cal and No. 17 Stanford at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 20, will kick off at Noon PT, the Pac-12 Conference announced Monday. FOX will telecast the contest that will mark the 30th anniversary of 1982's "The Play" when a five-lateral, 57-yard Golden Bear kickoff return on the final play of the 1982 game produced an improbable 25-20 Cal victory.
With the announcement of the kickoff time for the Big Game, the start time for the annual Big Splash men's water polo match between the Bears and the Cardinal preceding the football game has been set for 9:30 a.m. PT. The teams will play at the Spieker Aquatics Complex on the Cal campus.
The Cal-Stanford rivalry is tied for the eighth longest currently running series between Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams and tied for the 10th longest all-time in college football. Stanford leads the all-time series, 57-46-1, but Cal has won seven of the last 10 games since the arrival of head coach Jeff Tedford in 2002.
