BERKELEY -- The California men's basketball team announced its 2012-13 schedule on Friday. The Golden Bears, under the direction of head coach Mike Montgomery, will face a challenging 31-game slate that includes 12 teams that won at least 20 games and five programs that received an NCAA Tournament bid last season.

Cal will host 16 games and one exhibition contest inside Haas Pavilion this winter, including nine Pac-12 match-ups.

The Bears will face four 2012 NCAA Tournament teams in their non-conference slate --Wisconsin, UNLV, Creighton and Harvard -- in addition to fellow conference NCAA Tournament participant, Colorado.

Creighton's 29 victories lead a strong list of 12 opponents that won at least 20 games last season that also includes Wisconsin (26), UNLV (26), Harvard (26), Stanford (26), Colorado (24), Washington (24), Oregon (24), Arizona (23), Denver (22), Oregon State (21) and UCSB (20).

The Bears will open play at Haas with an exhibition game against San Francisco State on Nov. 6. Cal will begin regular-season play with a pair of home contests against CSU Bakersfield (Nov. 11) and Pepperdine (Nov. 13).

Montgomery's squad will make its first of two trips to the state of Colorado this season for its first road game of the 2011-12 campaign as the Bears meet Denver Nov. 16.

Cal will participate in the Anaheim Classic over the Thanksgiving holiday, joining Drake, Drexel, Georgia Tech, Pacific, Rice, Saint Mary's and Xavier in the eight-team tournament. The Bears will play their first of three games in the Anaheim Classic against Drake on Nov. 22, followed by games on Nov. 23 and Nov. 25.

California opens the month of December against three NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago. The Bears will travel to Madison, Wisc., to face Wisconsin - a 2012 Sweet Sixteen squad - Dec. 2 before returning home to open a five-game homestand against UNLV (Dec. 9) and defending Missouri Valley Conference champions, Creighton (Dec. 15). Home contests against UCSB (Dec. 18), Prairie View A&M (Dec. 22) and Harvard (Dec. 29) round out the calendar year.

The Bears will usher in 2013 and the Pac-12 slate down in Los Angeles with games against UCLA (Jan. 3) and USC (Jan. 5).

The first of two Bay Area battles against Stanford will be inside Maples Pavilion on Jan. 19, while the Bears host the Cardinal on Senior Day inside Haas Pavilion in the regular-season finale on March 6.

Cal will also host Washington (Jan. 9), Washington State (Jan. 12), Oregon State (Jan. 31), Oregon (Feb. 2), UCLA (Feb. 14), USC (Feb. 17), Utah (Feb. 28) and Colorado (March 2) at Haas Pavilion in league action.

Along with its game at Stanford, the Bears will travel to Utah (Jan. 24), Colorado (Jan. 27), Arizona State (Feb. 7), Arizona (Feb. 10), Oregon (Feb. 21) and Oregon State (Feb. 23) as part of its conference slate.

During conference regular-season play, the Bears will deviate from the traditional Thursday/Saturday league format on five occasions with three Sunday games (Jan. 27 at Colorado, Feb. 10 at Arizona, and Feb. 17 vs. USC) and a pair of Wednesday contests (Jan. 9 vs. Washington and March 6 vs. Stanford).

The Pac-12 Conference Tournament moves to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in 2013. First-round games begin March 13 with the championship game set for March 16.
