After going 4-2 over the first two weekends of the 2012 baseball season, California is beginning to make some noise in the national polls. While losing a three-game series to Long Beach State this weekend, two games to one, caused the Bears to drop from No. 22 to just outside the USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25, Cal did pick up some ground in other polls.
In the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll, the Bears check in at No. 28, just ahead of No. 29 USC (7-0). UCLA came in at No. 25, with Oregon State at No. 24 and Oregon at No. 23. Arizona checked in at No. 14, with Arizona State at 11 and Stanford at No. 2.
Cal is still No. 26 in the NCAA Baseball RPI, up from No. 31 the previous week.
According to Collegiate Baseball, the Bears are the No. 25 team in the land, just ahead of No. 26 Oregon State and No. 28 UCLA. Arizona comes in at No. 18, Oregon at No. 15, Arizona State at No. 11 and Stanford at No. 3 in that particular poll.
