A source has said that Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian wide receiver Jordan Payton has moved his decision date back. Payton said in a conversation with me last week that today was more of a suggested date for him and his coach, and that it was possible that he would push it back. Now, it appears he has.
After a visit to Notre Dame this past weekend, Payton named two top teams in the Irish and Michigan, with Cal close behind. In this reporter's opinion, this can potentially be very good for the Bears. If Payton was enamored enough from his visit to pull the trigger, he'd have done it on the trip, or immediately afterwards, as planned. Now that he's pushed the date back, it sounds like he's got a lot on his mind.
Payton said he was going to call the Cal coaching staff after the visit, so it's possible that they gave him more to think about, and if not them, then Bears commit Bryce Treggs. It now appears that Payton's top three are Notre Dame, Michigan and Cal. More on this as it develops.
