The best boxing families have left impressive legacies for future generations. They also continue to pass their knowledge of the sport on to young fighters. However, who are the five best American boxing families?

#5 Norris Family

Terry Norris and Orlin Norris were a nightmare for their opponents. Terry Norris had elite athleticism. He defeated his opponents with dazzling hand speed and foot speed. He was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 2005.

Orlin Norris won fights with his exceptional boxing skills. He used his superior ring generalship and high boxing IQ to defeat bigger men in the heavyweight division. He also was a cruiserweight world champion.

#4 Ali Family

Muhammad Ali did not like the idea of his daughter Laila Ali becoming a professional boxer. But, she has some of her dad's talent because she retired undefeated with a record of 24 wins and 21 knockouts. Laila Ali also had a knockout ratio of a 87.5%.

Rahman Ali is Muhammad Ali's older brother and he was a decent heavyweight boxer. And what more could be said about the most popular boxer in the world Muhammad Ali. He is simply the greatest.

#3 Byrd Family

Lamon Brewster and Chris Byrd made an impact in the heavyweight division in the 1990s and 2000s. The two cousins were both underdogs in some of the biggest wins of their careers. Brewster and Byrd also have both defeated one of the Klitschko brothers.

Brewster won the WBO world heavyweight title by beating Wladimir Klitschko in 2004. Likewise, Byrd was one of the best American heavyweight boxers of the 2000s. He won both the IBF and WBO heavyweight titles.

Chris Byrd's sister Tracy Byrd was a contender in the lightweight division. Equally important, Joe Byrd Sr. trained Chris Byrd throughout his career and he was the 1992 US Olympic boxing team head coach.

#2 Mayweather Family

The Mayweather family is not shy about talking about how great they are. They also love boxing. They do not leave the sport. The Mayweather Family becomes boxing trainers after retiring as fighters.

Jeff Mayweather's brothers are Roger Mayweather and Floyd Mayweather's Sr. He was a gatekeeper and a decent lightweight boxer. Mayweather Sr. was a contender in the welterweight division known for his excellent defensive skills.

Moreover, Roger Mayweather was a champion in the super featherweight and lightweight divisions. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the most accomplished boxer of the family. However, he would not be a great boxer without Roger Mayweather and Mayweather Sr's training and boxing wisdom.

#1 Spinks Family

Is there anyone in the Spinks family who cannot fight? It seems like everyone in their family has boxing talent.

Leon and Michael Spinks were the first brothers to become heavyweight champions. Leon Spinks pulled an upset in 1978 by defeating Ali for the heavyweight championship. Likewise, Michael Spinks defeated Larry Holmes to become a heavyweight champion.

Cory Spinks has continued the Spinks boxing legacy. He was an undisputed welterweight champion.
