PA SportsTicker’s monthly Boxing Pound-for-Pound Rankings:

1. Floyd Mayweather Jr. (39-0, 25 KOs) - “Pretty Boy” sitting atop the mountain. WBC welterweight champion. Last year, it was “Dancing with the Stars” and now it’s “Wrestlemania XXIV” on March 30 against the WWE’s “Big Show”. Next fight: Could be September 20 against Oscar de la Hoya (38-5, 30 KOs).

2. Manny Pacquiao (45-3-2, 34 KOs) - “PacMan” trying to gobble up a title in another divison. Three-time champion. Next fight: March 15 - Juan Manuel Marquez (48-3-1, 35 KOs)

3. Juan Manuel Marquez (48-3-1, 35 KOs) - “Dinamita” fought to a draw against Pacquiao in 2004. WBC super featherweight champion. Next fight: March 15 - Manny Pacquiao (45-3-2, 34 KOs).

4. Joe Calzaghe (44-0, 32 KOs) - The “Pride of Wales” is finally getting recognition. Coming to America for his next bout. WBA & WBC super middleweight champion. Next fight: April 19 - Bernard Hopkins (48-4-1, 32 KOs).

5. Miguel Cotto (31-0, 25 KOs) - “Junito” would be head of the class of welterweights if not for Mayweather. WBA welterweight champion. Next fight: April 12 - Alfonso Gomez (18-3-2, 8 KOs).

6. Bernard Hopkins (48-4-1, 32 KOs) - “The Executioner” looks to put a blemish on Calzaghe’s record. Former undisputed middleweight champion. Held the IBF title for 10-plus years before losing to Jermain Taylor. Next fight: April 19 - Joe Calzaghe (44-0, 32 KOs).

7. Israel Vazquez (42-4, 32 KOs) - “Magnifico” after reclaiming the title from Rafael Marquez last August will battle against each other for their third bout in a year. WBC super bantamweight champion. Next fight: March 1 - Rafael Marquez (37-4, 33 KOs).

8. Kelly Pavlik (32-0, 29 KOs) - The “Ghost” proved he wasn’t a fluke when he recorded a unaminous decision in a rematch against Jermain Taylor. A much needed rising star in the sport. WBC middleweight champion. Next fight: TBA.

9. Juan Diaz (33-0, 17 KOs) - The “Baby Bull” is seeking to fight Pacquiao and is creeping up on the charts. Curently is a political science major at the University of Houston. IBF & WBA lightweight champion. Next fight: Nate Campbell (31-5-1, 25 KOs).

10. Ronald Wright (51-4-1, 25 KOs) - “Winky” is coming off a loss against Bernard Hopkins last July. Former three-time champion. Next fight: TBA.
