Gatti’s widow awarded $37,500 by Quebec judge

MONTREAL (AP)—The widow of boxing champion Arturo Gatti lost her bid for $140,000 she was seeking from the boxer’s estate, but was awarded $37,500 Thursday to cover legal fees and child care costs.

Superior Court Justice Paul Chaput also allowed Amanda Rodrigues to enter their condominium in Montreal to collect her belongings.

Rodrigues is in a legal battle with Gatti’s family over his estimated $5.6-million estate.

Gatti was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a posh Brazilian seaside resort in July. Brazilian police initially ruled the death a homicide and detained Rodrigues. Police later ruled the death a suicide.

The legal battle is being fought in Quebec and New Jersey, where the boxer made most of his earnings. At issue is the validity of a pair of wills that differ on how the estate should be divided.

Rodrigues’ attorney claims a will signed in Quebec in June, which left the estate to her, is valid.

However, Gatti’s family contends that a will signed in 2007 in New Jersey, where the boxer amassed his fortune, is valid. They say the one signed recently in Quebec was done so under duress.

The 2007 will leaves control of the estate to his mother.

The judge rejected Rodrigues’ attempt to have the earlier will terminated. Chaput urged both sides to talk before returning to court on Nov. 17.

NEVER GET INVOLVEDI N A RELATIONSHIP WITH A STRIPPER- if you go to the right club you can get a hot looking broad to meet up with you and slurp on you for approx 100 bucks and then go your own way- and they look alot better than Amanda and you won't have to worry about some @#$% cleaning you out financially- do you really think they have feelings for you? They are all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Rodrigues will possibly get majority of Gatti's estate. Her will is more recent than the 2007 will for the mother. As frustrating as that may sound that's probably going to be the case unless the 2 parties can settle out of court. About her being responsible for Gatti's death, I suspect she played a big part in it or possibly murdered him herself. However, she is innocent until proven guilty. Without sufficient evidence in the court of law, she is not guilty of the crime. It's unfortunate but that's just how the legal system works. If Gatti's family doesn't agree, show the jury the forensic DNA evidence. Without a witness, a forensic expert or a high-profile attorney to prove the case, Rodrigues will just walk free.

This is what i think happened:
When he was passed out the ho, (all women arent hos, but this one, is a ho) the ho wrapped the purse strap around his neck and went up on the stairs and strangled him from the stairs, she wouldnt have to lift him up and hang him all she had to do was wrap it around his neck, put the strap on the stairs then walk up the stairs and pull as hard as she could. thats what i think happend.

After listening to a broadcast where the Brazilian "detective" was questioned during an interview, there can be no question that those responsible for investigating Gatti's death are woefully inept. Brazil's mindless pursuit of a quick call is a bold slap in the face for justice. No DNA evidence was pursued, they staged a simulation of Gatti's death using an 85 pound mannequin with a purse strap wrapped around its neck and let it drop from an elevated chair and the purse strap snapped instantly. There is no way that a boxer Gatti's size could have committed suicide in the manner that the Brazilian authorities said he did. I suppose double jeapordy is attached to this case now so his "grieving" widow will not be charged with a crime that she undoubtedly had a big hand in.

I do not think that she should get anything, for I think that this is a cse of murder, point blank, but the law said suicide, and she will be paid, and I don't think that tho the USA holds no time limit on murder, Brazil may not, now will she be as hated as OJ
