This month, we welcome three new members to the Y! Sports MMA Top 10 poll: Josh Gross of, Ken Pishna of, and Pramit Mohapatra of The Baltimore Sun.

No offense to Pramit here, but bringing aboard writers affiliated with Sherdog and MMAWeekly in particular lends a lot of credibility to the poll.

Long before a few reporters finally got it through the thick skulls of dense, old-school newspaper editors that MMA is a legitimate sport worthy of coverage, sites like Sherdog and MMA Weekly were the MMA sites of record. Reporters like Josh and Ken carried the torch when the mainstream wouldn’t touch MMA.

With these additions, the poll now features representation from most of the major Web sites which cover MMA, cutting across corporate lines: Yahoo! Sports, (Sam Caplan), (Sherdog), and (Dave Meltzer). We will be looking to add a few more writers over coming months.
