Chad Dawson got the job done on Saturday but was it enough to get a Bernard Hopkins fight? At the postfight press conference, Dawson's promoter Gary Shaw said  that it doesn't matter what "Bad Chad" does, Hopkins isn't going to fight him. Shaw saw BHop on ESPN on Friday night saying the money has to be right. Shaw's response:

"Bernard is full of [expletive]!"

That prompted Hopkins' camp member Malik Chambers to snap at Shaw during the press conference. Chambers took issue when Shaw said that Hopkins had offered Tomasz Adamek $300,000-$500,000 for a fight. Chambers told Shaw to mind his own business because it was really $1.2 million. For some reason, Hopkins also told ESPNRadio1100 that it $500,000 last week (3:05 mark). There seems to be some disconnect between Chambers and Hopkins or is it possible that in the week since the BHop interview, Adamek was offered $1.2 million?

Dawson told ESPNRadio1100 there haven't been any negotiations with the Hopkins camp (7:00 mark) so it seems a bit odd that Chambers would be yelling out, "get the money right!" during the press conference:

"There's not been one second of conversation. So how can he say it's a money issue? What he should say is, I'm going to have my representatives call Gary Shaw and work out a deal."

Watch Shaw talk about Dawson v. Hopkins with Yahoo!:

Shaw says he's not going to chase Hopkins. Fortunately for fight fans Dawson does have the option of going down to 168 pounds to take on Carl Froch or Mikkel Kessler. Is there any other fight we care about for Hopkins other than Dawson?

BHop gains nothing by getting in the ring with Dawson. Dawson wasn't anything special on Saturday and that performance won't draw any big names. He doesn't want a rematch with Johnson. So Cloud, it is. At least Cloud will make it exciting!

If Chad wants to be considered a top fighter, he must give Glen Johnson a rematch, and beat him convincingly. I think it is hypocritical of Chad to say that Bernard does not want to fight him, while at the same time, he does not want to fight Glen. Is he afraid of Glen? I think the answer is "yes". Bernard has accomplished enough, to choose whom he fights; Chad has not yet achieved such status. Bernard is already an all-time great, while Chad has a far way to go.

Hopkins does not have a fight out there that will be good for him. That division is boring. Loaded with boring fighters. I don't blame Hopkins for wanting a big money fight. He doesn't have many left in him. He may get to the point to where ne needs another paycheck before it is too late though. I predict his next fight will be his last and it needs to be an opponent with a name and he can beat convincingly. He has earned that right as did Delahoya. I see no one at this point. BHop can beat Dawson but the risk is too great for the minimal return.

Bhop has the right to pick his next opponent, but it's obvious that B-Hop is running at the same time. People have talked about this fight after Dawson beet Tarver the first time. B-Hop is ranked #1 in the division and Dawson #2, isn't this obvious? As much money as B-Hop has made, he owes this to boxing. (fight the best fighters) it doesn't have to be on PPV. He is not a PPV fighter! You wanna go down as a legend well either quit or fight the best! Simple as that. The real reason, B-Hop won't fight Chad Dawson is because he sees a real threat and he knows that Dawson would get up for that fight. B-Hop only wants to fight the fighters who have been soften up by other fighters. Example: Kelly Pavlik, the only reason, the fight took place was because, he saw weaknesses in Pavlik when Pavlik fought Jermaine Taylor. Example # 2: Carl Froch, B-Hop knows that he can expose a weakness in Carl Froch because of his fight with Jermaine Taylor. He is one of the smartest in the history of boxing and THAT'S WHY he won't fight Dawson! He has done alot for the sport but if you won't fight the best (STOP FIGHTING)

I respect B-Hop, he's got ridiculous defensive skills which allowed him to fight well into his 40s. But it makes for boring fights. A Dawson-Hopkins fight would be predictable. Dawson would press the action and get countered all night long. Unanimous decision.

After watching him annihilate Pavlik, I'd watch B-hop fight anyone not named Tito Trinidad. Hopkins and Mosley have done enough for boxing; they deserve to pick their opponents. there is no doubt in anyone's mind that they'd fight anyone - they've proven it. I hope they both get one more big payday before they retire.

Yes, fordadux, let's talk about Money Mayweather and the Pacman. For my money, it's Manny, not Mayweather. Too fast with too much power coming from a southpaw. Mayweather is great, no doubt, but his style is all wrong for this fight. Pacquiao by KO. Arum and Mayweather need to get on the same page — now. This is the biggest fight in decades. Let's do it ASAP (with mad respect to Juan Manuel Marquez).

Floyd by decision. I find it a little odd that Floyd doesn't go for the GIANT payday with Manny right away. I really beleive him when he says he wants a "tune-up" fight first. Marquez is one hell of a tune-up fight! The only bad part would be is if he actually lost to Marquez, that's a POSSIBLE risk in any fight and one that would put a damper on seeing what we would be a good one. Personally I like Manny better, but Floyd is still Floyd. He'll probably be an underdog too. If I can get Floyd Mayweather has an underdog I'll be callin Vegas pretty fast.....

I'm with you, Dan. Floyd's taking one HELL of a tune-up match. At the least Marquez will give him a dangerous, great fight and has a shot at winning to boot. There isn't a bigger payday in boxing than Manny-Floyd. Why risk it? I don't see that building it up any more will help. And what's Pacquiao going to do in the meantime? Fighting Edwin Valero would be cool to watch and is very winnable, but taking on Cotto or Sugar Shane before Floyd is a bit risky. You have a great point about the betting angle taking Floyd as an underdog, but I'll stick with Pacman. I just want to see the damn thing and hope Money doesn't try to price himself out of it. If they get it on, we'll all be the winners.

Im not the least bit concerned with Floyd and Manny. Let's get back to business. Chad has fought Glen already and won the fight. He could fight Glen Johnson again but he could beat Glen Johnson AGAIN! But if Glen Johnson actually beat Chad Dawson, does that gaurantee a fight with Bernard Hopkins? NO! and if we was able to get that fight i would be willing to bet that Glen wouldn't make any money off of that fight. So lets call it what it is. B-Hop does not want to fight Chad Dawson because he doesn't think that he could BEAT Chad Dawson. Simple as that!

Chad dawson should take on someone like kelly pavlik , jamaine taylor, winky wright,or at the very least glenn johnson. these could be a nice pay day for him, and i think people would want to see these match - ups. the down side to this is i personally don't think he could beat any of them. b-hop should take the fight if no one else is out there for him, but chad dawson, is over rated. he's not that great. dawson had a hard time with johnson and tarver! and i dare him to call out calzaghe! that would be a major butt whippin!

bhop is not that good of a fighter to me yeah he won some big fights beating winky wright which i think he lost and against trinidad but he hasn't fought in years and winky beat the hell out of trinidad so thats another reason, bhop is a damn cry baby anyway i think he'll lose to chad dawson to be honest because he's doing the same thing he did with roy jones but this time he got his trainer manager or whoever speaking for him even though thats whats suppose to happen but be it as it may both of them needs to put up or shut up. tarver wasn't a good fight for him anyway tarver had that rematch clause put in just for that reason if he lose its a mandatory rematch and still he lost and chad didn't have to prove anything by giving him a rematch the first was better than the second, but why should he give glen johnson a rematch he'll beat him again to because glen is about done any way just a tarver and hopkins so who's left ???????.

I'm glad someone out there knows something about boxing. First of all Chad Dawson, would beat Kelly Pavlik, Jermaine Taylor (one of my favorite fighters) and Joe Calzaghe. As far as B-Hop. He is what we call a has-been. He is using his name to make people want to see him fight. But as far as getting in the ring with a natural Light-Heavyweight such as: Chad Dawson, he won't do that. He knows that he can't keep up with the kid's hand speed and stamina. Chad Dawson has the same problem that other fighters have like Paul Williams, the people in his division won't fight him because of the risk of loosing and looking bad while losing.

Good God people!! Your blogs prove why boxing sux and won't be mounting a come back anytime soon. Nutsuckers post #6 proves the point. Boxers are only out for the "cheese" not the fights. THAT is why there are only 1-2 fights A YEAR that anyone gives a damn about. Where as in MMA, the matchups is where the intrique lies. The fact that Nutlicker reckognizes the fact that Bhop will fight a "lesser" opponent and make the same cheese only reflects the fact that boxers fight for money, not titles (one of about what 50 different belts), not competition, or to prove who is best. Same is true for post #17! My God, you people see that boxers won't fight each other because they may "risk" loosing. SOOO what is the point in watching this terrible sport. Only thing you get is fighters ducking fighters, fighters fighting "lesser" fighters for the same "cheese" while you pay $49 for ONE fight that lasts 2 rounds. WHAT A JOKE!! Plus everyone knows a boxer is a one dimensional relic that doesn't have the take down defense to fight a MMA fighter. Their footwork is all wrong!! MMA = Racehorse, Boxing = One trick pony!! Nice job Floyd Mayweather, fight a "lesser" fighter rather than the TRUE P4P king in PacMan. Boxing is a joke and so is its fans!! Good job you Boxing fanboys, keep trying to pump up this stupid, dead, promoter owned sport!!

One Belt One Title and One Champ for each weight. Greedy azz promoters with their "I won't chase this or I won't chase that" Ring Mag is what I go by. The True Champs, not all this Alpha soup.
