Manny Pacquiao may not be boxing's best pitchman but his trainer is certainly making up for it. Freddie Roach has taken on the role of trash-talker extraordinaire. Roach isn't happy that the upcoming Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Juan Manuel Marquez fight is simply being dubbed "No. 1":

"They can call Mayweather-Marquez "No. 1" but it smells like No. 2," said Freddie Roach. "The fight stinks. Two counter-punchers waiting for the other one to make the first move is boring and proves nothing."

Since the minute the Pacman-Ricky Hatton fight ended, Roach has been ripping the Mayweather comeback effort. He told ESPNRadio1100 that the fight will be terrible. He repeated recently that Mayweather is ducking Pacquiao:

"If Mayweather wanted to prove he was the best all he had to do was wait one day to see who won Pacquiao-Hatton before signing to fight Marquez.  You might as well rename him Fraud Mayweather, Jr.“

Marquez twice fought Pacquiao going 0-1-1. The WBA and WBO lightweight champ is fighting Mayweather at a catch-weight of 144 pounds.

JMM has a real shot of beating Mayweather. Manny should fight the winner of that fight and I expect him to beat either one.

Why do they keep saying Manny won the fight by a TKO. Manny flat knocked Ricky Hatton out, and I mean OUT. That is a KO, NOT A TKO. A TKO is a technical knock out when a fight has to be stopped because of injuries to the opponent that prevents him from continuing for saftey reasons, such as a bad cut or eyes swollen closed or hand injury etc etc. This was by no stretch of the imagination a TKO.

Whats with this TKO stuff. Manny's victory over Hatton was clearly a Knock Out. The fight couldn't go on because Hatton was out flat on his back not because he was cut or anything like that. Don't you boxing officials know your own terminolgy?

If Manny's demolition of hatton is only a tko, i sure would like to see what is considered a knock out.

One thing I can't stand is mayweather has spent the better part of his career picking off smaller boxers just as he is doing again. Pacman on the other hand is making an impressive run KTFO bigger opponents

If Manny and Freddy roach have honor, Manny will fight E.Valero before he retires.
But my gut feeling is that Manny will retire after the Mayweather fight.

"Roach, however, sounded hesitant in picking Valero, hinting that the undefeated Venezuelan is a “high-risk, low-reward” opponent for Pacquiao" 5-11-09
Manny fans, you pride yourselves that Manny always takes the toughest challenges, then demand that Manny fights Valero next.
    In my opinion, Freddy's afrraid.

Jimmy..ask yourself why PBF did not fight Margarito, Cotto, Mosley, Williams? HIGH RISK, LOW DEMAND. Look what happened to Marquez. He lost to Chris John and lost his belts(HIGH RISK) and got a low $$$$$(LOW DEMAND).

Why fight Valero? His not the only boxer out there. Boxing is not just a sport only but also business. Pacquiao is not afraid of Valero. If he losses to Valero, he has to make money too....Look at Marquez. If Marquez fought Pacquiao instead of Chris John win or lost he'll get more $. And surely there will be a 3rd fight and more $.

Finally watched the fight and the Pac Man took Hatton to school. Very impressive, I must say. The Pac Man is all that folks say he is. But, let's come back to reality for those of you that are still flying high in the clouds. Pacman won't beat Floyd Mayweather. Hatton followed no ones instructions but his own, though it wouldn't have changed the outcome. A total lack of lateral movenent, Hattons head was like a baseball on a tee, you know what I'm talking about. Manny just did what any elite fighter would do, he knocked it off. Now with Money, that's a different story. I do believe that Pacman will make it an interesting fight with PBF, that's only because he's gonna bring it. But Floyd will do like he always does and systematically break him down then knock him out. I do believe in fact that PBF will knock Manny out in brutal fashion. I mean brutal fashion. There's an old saying, you should let sleeping dogs lie. Keep talking folks, I enjoy the chatter. I just hope that once the knock out occurs your voices will ring just as loud for PBF when he recaptures the P4P title. Where are U julyfirhorse?

this to owee you have a point....what happened to hatton could and can happen to pacman or anybody, .it would be nice for pacman to retire now,,, he has proven himself to be the best after that fight with hatton...and with PBF there is no need to prove anything even if he beat this guy,, and I don't even get excited to see this fight.... I am more excited to see pacman running for congressman and you know there's also betting in there and serious betting like boxing you just don't know who will get knockout

Leif Lynch and Da Truth, you are entitled to your own opinion but based on the recent facts happening in boxing, I think you are simply at a loss with reality. You are hopeless. No matter how clear the facts right in front of your eyes, you still believe Mayweather is No. 1. Even if Pacquiao will knock out Mayweather and you're there watching ringside, still you'll declare that Mayweather is no. 1 because you'll have your excuses that maybe Mayweather is not anymore on top. Common guys. Be man enough. Just straight from the facts happening in your eyes-- Dela Hoya almost won against Mayweather but surrendered to Pacquiao in the 9th. Hatton hurt Mayweather several times and almost knocked down Mayweather but he was half dead after two rounds with Pacquiao. Are those facts not enough for your blind belief?

If Pacquiao were an American, there's no Leif Lynch nor Da Truth. It's because Pacquiao is not American and that's why there are doubters galore almost everywhere even in the media.

#20 Mangler........ Mayweather has nothing to prove to JMM. JMM has a lot to prove in my perspective to Pacquiao. Since he glamores that he is the best fighter and he has beaten MP. If he beats PBF, I assure you he'll be saying his pound for pound #1 and his the first to beat PBF and blemish the W-L record. The way Hatton fought Pacquiao, I do believe JMM can beat him too but surely not the like of Pacquiao. There is only 2 excuses PBF came out of retirement (1)he needs $$$ (2)to pay IRS...

the truth is all the anti pacman out there aint really saying nothing.. even your idol pbf aint saying $hit. cause you know why. his scared! if he wanted his pound for pound title, then why is he gunning for number 2 instead of number 1. pacman has 6 titles, how about pbf how many title he got? and dont tell me because he retired! pacman is more dangerous now then ever if you haters havent realize it yet.pacman is on the weight his build for.and what do you know its the same weight class as pbf is on. aint that ironic.but whos running away.not pacman! he actually called him out.but it fell on deaf ears. maybe pbf has selective hearing."pull up your skirt pbf you pu$$y showing"pacman vs hatton 2nd round it was over..pacman vs dela hoya 8th rounds dela hoya gave up.. those was just 2 example, now put pbf vs the two i just mentioned. hatton? what round did pbf knocke him out again? what about dela hoya? you might want to write this down hater. cause if pbf gives pacman a chance pbf is all done period................
