Former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson finds himself in trouble again after a Los Angeles clash with a photographer at LAX. In an interview with TMZ, Tony Echevarria claims that unprovoked, Tyson attacked him.

Echevarria got a tip that Tyson, traveling with his wife and 10-month-old child, was arriving at LAX from London. Echevarria followed Tyson, who arrived 30 minutes late, from the international terminal as he made his way to Terminal 7. Echevarria said Tyson was cordial and cooperative until he got agitated while looking for a bathroom. That's when the 43-year-old former champ allegedly lost it grabbing Echevarria by his camera bag strap and striking him:

"I found myself in the street and he was hitting me with fists in the head. People came and got him off me. They basically saved my life."

Echevarria said he needed five stitches to close wounds on the back of his head and forehead:

"He was hitting me, there was just blood everywhere. It was like a water valve," Echevarria said he was struck with four punches that he knew of. Airport police spokesman Jim Holcomb said the photographer told police he was struck once. "When the blood is just gushing around you lose count."

Echevarria still appeared to be shaken during his sitdown with the gossip site:

"It's traumatizing. When you're being hit by Mike Tyson, it's really the worst thing in the world that you can imagine. He claimed that I elbowed him. He claimed that I was aggressive. I'm not an aggressive paparazzi."

That's not the story from Tyson's side.

"Mike acted in self defense as a father protecting his child," said Tyson's spokeswoman Tammy Brook.

Holcomb said witnesses on the scene supported both stories.

Echevarria told TMZ that his new $5,000 camera was destroyed and the remains, including the videotape, are now in police possession.

I don't believe this guy what so ever. Tyson has been easy going and happy go lucky over the last few years. This guy had to do something to make Mike take it to that level.

These papparazzis, for all intents and purposes, should be prepared to accept whatever consequences they themselves have created. What happened to this photographer is his own doing and he has no right to blame his stalking subject. Whether Mike Tyson is guilty, the fault is entirely the photographer's. PEROD.

Yes, I agree. Whatever happened to the photographer is part of his job. Seems like this is the only way that a paparazzi learns. Otherwise they just keep making a buck at the expense of someone else privacy.

Paparazzi are parasite scum, it's crazy they are allowed to stalk and harass people. Tyson should get a medal. I've no doubt this guy provoked him, that's what they do.

i was at terminal 6 when this happened right next to me. Tyson was trying to find a bathroom and the guy with the camera was following him. Tyson talked to him for a good 20 seconds but the guy wasn't happy with that. He hit Mike on the head with the camera ( Tyson was pissed at getting hit) then took a few steps towards his wife and daughter which were near the ticket counter.. The camera guy was charging them. Tyson told the guy to back off but he kept walking towards his family. the guy stopped then walked outside. He tripped over the sidewalk near the baggage area which was by a large glass window. Tyson didn't hit this idiot. the guy with Tyson was saying GIVE him his camera NOT take the camera.

I don't blame Mike for beating his ass. There should be a law against stalking somebody and taking 1000 pictures of them, even if they're in public. If somebody were to follow me around constantly snapping pictures and never leaving me alone I would do the same thing.

Took multiple punches form a former heavweight champ. Maybe he should get in the ring and thank Tyson for getting him a better job.

The most damning part is he says mike was cordial at first. Most human beings dont just snap and start punching you for no reason. Maybe the photog was within the law (walkin the grey line), but it still does not mean it is fair to mike, or any other newsworthy name that is just tryin to live his life. A friend of mine is a cameraman for TMZ and he is cool as [profane]. Unfortunately bein cool as [profane] probably prevents you from getting that front page pic of a celebrity enraged comin at you. Thats all these paps want. And thats what he got.

    # 10 - Your only kidding yourself. The majority who are convicted by a trial & jury, are indeed guilty. Cases where they are actually innocent are extremely rare & that's why they are newsworthy. Tyson had a history of rage, drug abuse, & beating women. Yes, paparazzi are scum. But don't try to paint Tyson as an innocent victim. That in itself is laugable.
