Let's hope Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton can match the ongoing Freddie Roach versus Floyd Mayweather Sr. show. Mayweather again lobbed grenades on a conference call this week when he said Roach was a lousy fighter, a bum and got hit more than anyone in boxing history.

Roach fired back saying he was on television more and that Mayweather ruined his career by getting shot. Roach really unloaded when Mayweather said he was the better trainer. Roach is receiving his third trainer of the year award at the boxing writers dinner in June:

"I want you to present me the ... award this year. This is as close as you'll get to it," Roach said. "You're never going to win it. Ever."

It's gotten even nastier than that in the past. Both former fighters mock each other for the damage they took in the ring. Mayweather is difficult to understand while Roach suffers from Parkinsons. Both definitely suffer a lack of judgement at times.

Agreed Mangler.. Cofield, leave the boxing to Iole.. Cofield just wrote about some irrelevant fighter in MMA who wants to make it clear his fighting name is 'whore machine' not 'war machine'. Cofield, do boxing a favor and dont sully it with your special brand of journalism..
Mayweather is right. Roach was a total catcher and had no defense. I like him and think he deserves props, but in my humble opinion, he is overrated as a trainer, and as a fighter, he made the espn highlight reel for all the wrong reasons. Thell Torrence or Tommy Brooks are better trainers IMO.. Looking forward to all the boxing this weekend starting tonite.. Cofield, do us all a favor and stay on the UFC, I mean MMA blog.. You dont know boxing and it dont like you much. How bout that Liddell ?? LMAO.. fukking hack.. Couture too.. wow, a rassler that cant box.. what a shocker.. fukk mma ufc and stay out of the boxing side. You are not worthy as a "journalist".. Just because your last few UFC PPV's have been comical, dont come sucking your way back to boxing. stick with Liddell getting dropped like wet poo and Anderson Silva doing some retarded dance for 25 minutes...

Both are very good fighters, different styles and phisolophy. Roach had more fights before retiring, Floyds' early retirement is caused by gun shot wound. Floyd is a street fighter before a pro boxer and Roach once was on a street fight with Thomas Hearns or Sugar Ray Leonard w/c I read on a news about his life. (needs clarification) Inside the ring, it will be a brawl. Both fight toe-toe. Speaking about trainning skills, both are good except Roach had the upper hand. He's got champions to proved, meaning bottom-up. Except the likes of Mike Tyson and others. Pacquiao was a rugtug boxer former champ, that became polished. Floyd except being the father of a former lb-lb, and trains ODLH.

When Pacquiao and his former mgr. was looking for a trainour. Nobody wanted him except for Roach which is a bold move. Sometimes it needs a keen eye to see thru a person if he's got potential. I don't even think Floyd and Stewart will even bother. Before Pacquiao/Barrera I, Pacquiao was interviewed how he came to Roach. He said, to all the gymns and trainours he went too, Roach was different. He told his former mgr. I like him (Roach), and Roach said his a good boxer just needs to polish the edges. Then his first showing with a weeks notice, he became IBF junior bantamweight champion, another weeks notice Barrera. I say it was divine providence for two strangers to meet in a wild card gymn and agreed one another. They were ment to be. I hope I would have that blessing, I just dump my girlfriend (blonde, green eyes, young and naughty) were not ment to be.

PILLO that was the dumbest post I've seen. He got arrested for buying a gun WITH his OWN ID. He was arrested b/c as a convicted felon you cannot legally purchase or have posession of a firearm. I can guarantee you almost all professional athletes have a firearm or some weapon to carry. How bout next time you post name all these "OG" boxers that your speaking of.
Back on topic trainer wise I'd give it to Roach. He is the reason why Manny is P4P today. In each fight with Manny I see something new and different about his style. Mayweather gets some credit for his work with DLH and is the one who taught his son his Philly shell defensive style that he uses.

Heres some OG thugs for you clueless thugs.
1- Former heavyweight champion Trevor Berbick turned himself in to police and was arrested for breaking into a neighbor's home and stealing several items. Old School Thug.
2-Alex Hilton, 40 years old, Canadian boxing champion from the 1980's, has gone on trial in regards to being arrested for armed robbery at the depanneur in Lachine, two weeks before last Christmas. Apparently the "bad egg" was caught on video tape, and threatened the employees with a baseball bat. After robbing the establishment, he was chased home by the employees- Wigga thug.
3-Naseem Hamed, a former WBO world featherweight boxing champion, was jailed for 15 months when he was sentenced for “dangerous driving.” He had serious injuried another motorist. According to news sources, Hamed was driving a sports car, and he had a head on collision with two other vehicles. He was not injured. Hamed pled guilty to the charge last month, and he will not be able to drive for four years. OG thug for sure.
4-Mike Tyson just can’t seem to stay on the straight and level and has pled guilty on Monday, in Mesa, Arizona, to drug possession and Driving while under the influence. According to Courant.com, they wrote, “Tyson acknowledged to a judge that he had cocaine and was impaired when he was stopped for driving erratically in Scottsdale And lets not forget his rape and biting off a mans ear like you thugs would do. KING OG thug for sure.
5-Henry Tillman, a former Olympic heavyweight boxing champion, was sentenced to go to prison for 37 months. He pled GUILTY to FEDERAL IDENTITY THEFT charges- Super dumb thug.
6-Former WBA Middleweight champion William Joppy was arrested and jailed this week on charges of assault stemming for a November incident, according the Sheriff's office. Joppy of Seabrook, who lost his middleweight title in a bout on Dec. 13, was served two warrants for assault at a home. OG smell for shure.
7-Former lightweight champion Paul Spadafora in the shooting of a woman in or near his car Sunday morning, police said. Spadafora is charged with shooting his girlfriend, Nadine Russo, 20, in the chest. OG thug who should be taken out.
8-Looks like the “law” caught up with Vinny Paz, 40, of Warick, Rhode Island, when he was arrested at the Foxwoods Resort Casino on charges of passing bad checks in Las Vegas. The former 1987-88 IBF lightweight champion apparently wrote some “hot” checks and had seven counts pending against him. Dumb Knel type Wigga Thug.
9-Riddick Bowe, 35, a former world heavyweight champion, has been thrown in the ole' slammer (jail) for a period of 18 months. Bowe apparently was convicted of kidnapping his estranged wife, Judy Bowen, and children five years ago using a pair of handcuffs, pepper spray and tape. Big dumb dangerous OG!
    Drum roll...............
#10------52-year old Boxer Floyd "Jumbo" Cummings has been sentenced to life after he apparently became a "three strikes you’re out" criminal. Cummings was most noted for his 1981 fight against Joe Frazier, when they had a controversial draw. Cummings last brush with the law involved an armed robbery where he and a cohort robbed a sandwich shop with his partner in crime wielding a baseball bat. Cummings had duck-taped the victims mouth. Cummings blames his woes on drug addiction. Cummings previous convictions include doing 13 years in the slammer for "murder" and another armed robbery. Another Old School OG thug who is like 99% of boxers.
    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I have just been reading Roach's comments re PFP which I tend to agree with . When Hatton stops Pacman in around 7th he still will not be PFP. I cannot understand why all the small ghuys seem to get the title. Kermit Cintron is a pefect eg of a small guy with a vaunted KO record but glass. The PFP list have good KO records but are any as good as Haye's ? He has never ducked anyone, he has fought outside of his countyr to win titlesand flattened anyone he has met (thompson he took two goes at).
    Has anyone any thoughts ?

Jml penalossa fight was awesome. penalosa showed a great heart and some occasional shots, but jml was way too much for him. i think roach did the right thing. penalosa would of fought till the death. good stoppage. what a great weekend in boxing. lots of great ko's and plenty of heart and skill shown across the board. jml was going up and down beautifully. the guy can kill the body and head.. boxing is alive and well cofield. all this weekend great boxing for free.. great matches and no grease, no hacks like liddell getting taken out like month old garbage, and no promoters like dana white trying to interject themselves and be the story. boxing spoke for itself, and it said it is still the true 'fighting' sport. so go write some more blogs on your boy koppenhaver and hype up your boss dana.. boxing left your "ultimate fighting" in the dust. boxing is the better talent and atheletes. this weekend proved that without question.

Taylor had that fight won. he should of just ran or held on. i was surprised that given his experience, he didn't stay out of harms way or hold on when he got hurt. he went down in the corner exactly the same way he did against pavlik. he is a world beater for six rounds but then tapers off. i dont think froch will do much more in that division. if he fought ward, or even allan green i think he would get smoked. let him get calzaghe in a slap fest. the euros will love it.
