The cash cow has been sent out to stud. Oscar De La Hoya, the best pay-per-view fighter in the history of boxing ($700 million in earnings), is gone and now it's time for the new stars to step up. Can Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton pick up where DLH left off? HBO's Mark Taffet sounds like he has zero confidence the little guys will be huge PPV stars:

"Only fights with Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Oscar De La Hoya have done a million buys or more in the sports history," said HBO PPV boss Mark Taffet. "It's unfair to burden any fight with that type of expectations. But we think this fight is going to have real legs in the United States because these guys fight with a style that every boxing fan of every race, gender and ethnicity loves."

Taffett and Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer said they'd be happy if the fight landed in 600,000-700,000 buy range domestically. Bob Arum, who once told ESPNRadio1100 that anglo fans in the U.S. don't care about boxing, is now saying Americans are smart and will latch onto to the British and Filipino fighting stars:

"Americans aren't just focused on Americans fighting," said Top Rank promoter Bob Arum. "Americans will go to their pockets and see an event where they believe they will be entertained and they will see two great fighters facing each other in the ring."

The HBO buys don't tell the entire story. It's expected that Hatton will draw huge numbers in the U.K. and Australia. Those two regions may account for near 1.5 million PPV buys internationally.

Listen here after the big fight on Saturday night. Starting at 1 a.m. ET, Cofield will host the ESPNRadio1100/Yahoo! Sports postfight show from the media center at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Boxing ain't going no where, but they do need some help. Anderson Silva last two fights and boxing have alot in commen. They're both getting boring to watch ( some boxing not all ). Pac-man is always fun to watch.

Pac- man in 7! Hatton has no chance . Maybe now Floyd Sr. can shut the f&*k up! Too bad he doesn't get along with his son or else they could team up and MAYBEEEE!! have enough to beat Pac Man. Right now, the only one who can beat Pac- man is himself.

LOL at UFC 97 getting a few million buys.
This PPV will be a success, for some reason people refuse to add in the international PPV buys, big time PPV's outside of North America are extremely rare so this is quite remarkable.

Ivan Clavel?! Calling an old guy Gorilla Face?! That's foul man! If my fiancee sees your comments and asked me to bring you down, I will not hesitate to do so. The same goes for other African-American dudes when they read your irresponsible statement. Geez!..
Anyway I had this bout with Pacman winning in the 7th, 8th, or 9th rounds. Go Pac and gobble up the Hitman.

You people are in for a real shock saturday night......everyones in love with manny after he beat oscar....oscar was old, and really had nothing to fight for, if oscar would have won they would have said he whipped a smaller man...now he fights a big motivated fighter that has way more skill then hes given credit for....i like hatton in this fight, and i really like him as the big underdog that he is....and lets given hatton credit, hes keeping boxing alive right now, 25 thousand people flying along way to see him fight in another country....no fighter on the planet gets that kinda love....hitman stops him late......ps... if manny wants to act like hes the same old guy from the philippines ghetto, make sure hbo cameras dont catch the mansion he built on most of it....

LUCKY12_ u can be humble and still enjoy ur wealth. You work hard for it, life's short, you deserve it. but with his spare cash, he shares- and that's not a small sum either.
Anyways, I've got the Pacman in a grueling fight, that'll probly end due to an accumulation of punches or a short straight left as the Hitman lunges with his looping right that lays Hatton down on his back for good. (just like in his fight against Mayweather, where he got flattened with a check hook after he tried the same shot). Pacquiao KO in 8th or 9th.

I do agree with all you boxing buffs that have Manny winning in easy fashion. This going to be a tough fight for
both men. Remenber this Hitman is far from slow and is the bigger man. Manny as fast as he is with hands
and feet is not that much quicker.
And remenber Manny has been knock out by 2 smaller men. Hitman is bigger and stronger and almost as fast.
I pick Hitman with stopage inside 8 rounds.

hard to predicts whos gonna win...2 boxer hav a true blooded warrior..no one can be K.O in round 1-5...
it depends on their stamina...who he stop being agressive would coz him a K.O...
so whats hatton will do is 2 save his energy from round 1-4...well we ol knew manny has always been
agressive for his fights from round1-12..actually he can fight until 18round what they say..
manny has d advantage interms of stamina...count d no. of landed punch of manny from his past fights same thing to hatton...whos got more..??...i'm 4 manny!!!...although i lyk hatton's attitude..
