It's been a banner year for boxing at least on the blockbuster fight/pay-per-view front. HBO PPV chief Mark Taffet predicted just before the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto fight that 2009 would be the first year where two fight cards would exceed the 1 million buy threshhold. He was right. Pacman's win turned in 1.25 million buys domestically. Who knows how viewers that really means. Worldwide it may have been in excess of 10 million. HBO reported that in Puerto Rico alone, there were 110,000 buys made. The fight was broadcasted across the Philippines for free.

Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole spoke with HBO's Ross Greenburg and Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum about boxing's latest home run and what could be coming in 2010.

If you missed the fight, the replay is tomorrow night on HBO at 10 p.m. ET/PT

So now, we can look forward for the mega fight that everyone is waiting for. Eek, wrong! Mayweather says he is more than willing to fight Pacquiao....hear this... IF an equitable deal is struck!!!! Sounds like he is thinking of
60-40 split and will make such demands to stall the negotiations. GBP executives should spell it out to PBF that 50-50 is fair, and if he insists.... propose 55-45 for SD or UD win, or 45-45 for KO/TKO (plus 10% for W) !!

Mayweather deserves more. If pacman wins, then he deserves the largest purses from then on. thats how it works. Until someone comes along and challenges pacman. But he wont beat pbf anyway..

Guys this is easy make it a 40/40 split and the winner gets the other 20% and if it is a draw they get 10/10 even money.

Barry...you forgot that PBF retired and GAVE UP the mythological throne....PBF stepped down.....Pacman stepped up....Now PBF has to step back back up.....PPV numbers don't lie however politically controlling they can be for leverage...Pacman beat out PBF in their most recent fights for PPV numbers....Only the aristocratic mindset will use PBF's past before he retired as an excuse to get more....PBF has only fought once since May of 2007....If PBF wants BIGGER numbers...He should face and beat Shane Mosley....Then he will deserve the BIGGER purse....

I definitely think this fight will be made, however, the only ones actually talking about it being made are us, the fans. There may be reports on both camps "willing to go into negotiations" but they probably won't get into the real contractual negotiations until after the Mosley-Berto fight. I'm think within a month, month and a half after that fight, well start hearing about potential dates, venues, agreed-weight, etc. Right now, everyone's anxious, but they don't know what kind of deal to strike with the negotiations until they see the outcome of the Jan. 30 fight. Either way, Floyd will find a way to delay the fight until he thinks he's ready. Remember, these annoying little tactics that he does is his way of telling himself he's calling the shots. Regardless, I can't wait to see the fight, because Pacquiao is going to force Floyd to actually engage, and not get on his bike like he always does.

Then why is everyone clamoring for a pbf fight the minute pacman won? Cotto was the last test before PBF..I dont think it was needed but they wanted to see what kind of draw he would be somewhat on his own..There isnt a person in this world who wouldnt wanna see PBF vs. pacman, except for maybe cofield if it falls on the same night as a fight night, lol. but really, Delahoya retired as well and came back and it was just assumed he was gonna be the top draw. When tyson came back, he was the draw. When ali came back, he was the draw. When foreman came back, he was the draw. PBF is the draw, unless the phillipines grows by about 300 million more people. Americans know PBF, and that is what matters during these negotiations.

Barry, everyone has been clamoring for a fight between Floyd and Manny since before the Cotto fight, something I don't think anyone can dispute. The demand just intensified with the performance Manny delivered against Miguel; which is why MAJORITY of boxing news right now is some sort of article relating to this very topic. The only way I see Floyd making a realistic demand for the bigger portion of the purse is if he fights Mosley first, and wins CONVINCINGLY! That's the kind of momentum that currently favors Manny, which is why the negotiations will stall. I'm not saying that he has to do that, since we all know he won't. But who can honestly disagree that if Floyd DID take that route, it would put all of the momentum back on his side? Just a thought.

why not pbf first fight cotto. Isn't the likes of cotto the reason why pbf retired earlier. He doesn't wanna fight quality oppositions?
PBF if you're really the top draw, let's see how you will fair with cotto!!!!!

Cotto is not in position to fight PBF. Let PBF and Mosley mix it up!!! Pacquiao is the #1 P4P, followed by PBF and Mosley. Also, Pacquiao is the #1 contender for the Ring Welter champion, followed by Mosley and PBF. It'll be like 2 birds with one stone - all 3 fighting for Ring welter championship and the P4P title.

Lincoln 13, Paul M 16 and Enrique M 17, you all have good ideas worth close consideration by the interested promoters. However, to add color and dimension, if feasible in the boxing business, Pacman wrested the WBO crown of Cotto. How about unifying the welter crown ? This move would truly nail the P4P title once he unify all welterweight titles from WBA, WBC and IBF!

In an interview with Philipine media, Pacquiao said he doesn't want to call out Mayweather because if he do so, he may ask for a higher share and his demands may not be possible. He wants his managers to do the talking. And he specifically stated that he is the P4P king and best boxers in the world right now, and it's up to Mayweather to call out him and should the first one to initiate to have a fight with him. Pacquiao is so clever that he fully understand Mayweather's ego, and a psycholigical warfare on the part of Pacquiao is doing good for him. Mayweather is relentlessly want to hear it from pacquiao, but the little guy does not buy or venture into Mayweather's game and lets him confronts his egoistic personality.

Why would either pacman or pbf want to fight anyone else and put possibly one of the biggest ppvs in world history on hold? this fight will get put together, and it will sell like crazy. pbf is light years ahead of cotto both defensively and speed wise . not to mention pbf can bang when he wants. pbf will beat pacman. it will throw him off to fight another guy who is that elusive, strong, and can match or even surpass his speed. remember, pacman has been caught by guys that couldnt get near pbf. and for all you who say he is not a banger, just ask the last few fighters he beat. he may take his time, but he waits for mistakes. manny will make a mistake and pay for it with pbf.

Yeah cofield. boxing still with world domination. and look at this next ufc ppv... griffin vs ortiz.. wow, that is some sizzling talent. hmm. cotto vs. pacman, or griffin vs. ortiz. ??? one fight with some truly talented fighters, or two hacks with small gloves..?? the ufc is a sinking ship stevie boy. the one big seller lesnar is falling apart physically. there is no huge ufc draw anymore. and internationally speaking, ufc/mma cant hold boxings jock strap. but go back to your silly days of our lives in the ufc blogs and tell us tito has a black eye, or griffin poses like a male hooker on santa monica blvd. nice work.

Isn't it great watching Don King the one-time "King Of promoters"sit on the outside looking in like a "window shopper"!!. The universe has a way of paying one back according to one's deeds! Don King can't even sit ringside anymore at some of these big-time fights and forget about promoting any of these new age dynamic fighters like Klitchsko, Mayweather ,Paquiao,Cotto,Mosley,Hopkins, etc. I hold Don King totally responsible for what has happened to boxing these last couple of decades. I am so happy to see boxing make a comeback and I'm sure that everyone else will agree.

Nice PPV #’s.. Pacquiao is on top of the world!!!! Mayweather is lucky Pac-man isn’t from the US, with the why Pac finishes off opponents there would be no discussion about who is # 1 P4P.. If Pacquiao was American he would get why more media attention.. Mayweather is a good boxer but Pacquiao is proven TNT.. Enough running Lil Floyd, it’s time to fight!!!
