It's been a rough week on the web for Floyd Mayweather. On Thursday Mediatakout.com reported that Mayweather was laid out in a Las Vegas club.

Say it ain't so Floyd. MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind that Floyd and fellow boxer Edner "Cherry Bomb" Cherry got into a fight at a Las Vegas club. Word on the street is that Edner was one of Floyd's sparring partners and had a problem over some back pay. And that when he confronted Floyd in the club, the two got into it and Floyd ended up asleep. We put out word to Floyd's peeps for a comment.

His peeps weren't about to speak with this "reliable" news site. Mayweather's manager Leonard Ellerbe did speak with Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review Journal:

"Edner Cherry is 135 pounds," Ellerbe said. "He's going to come into a Las Vegas nightclub, knock Floyd out and live to tell about it? C'mon. That's one of the most ridiculous rumors I've heard in 10 to 12 years. Floyd wasn't involved in no fight."

If you've seen the Mayweather entourage it doesn't seem believable. In an odd coincidence, Yahoo! Sports saw Mayweather and his crew the next night at an Applebees in Las Vegas. He was surrounded by at least 8-10 young males. He's normally surrounded by giant bodyguards at the clubs. If Cherry did land a KO blow, how did he get away unscathed?

There is one slight hesitation in discarding the story completely. There may have been a Mayweather back or leg injury in the rumored fight.

A vigilant Las Vegas resident, spotted "Money" using a handicapped parking spot for his Mercedes (pictured) on Sunday at the Vegas NBA Summer League at the Thomas & Mack Center. At least Floyd was inconspicuous in parking his whip Cade McNown-style with his moniker and last name above the license plate.

Now there is no official confirmation that it was Floyd driving the "Money" Mayweather Mercedes. Maybe it was his uncle Roger.

i knew the MMA guys would come out the wood works if all the guys where this and that how come they couldn't hack it in boxing? Including the best MMa fighter in the world "Spider" Silva. Boxing has alot of main stream known fighter your not a fan so you wouldn't know. How about Manny Paciao, Chad Dawson, Vatali and Vlamider, the Marquez brothers, THe Vaquez brothers, Ricky Hatton, Joe Calzage, And check the numbers homeboy. Boxing still has more sells and numbers than MMA. DLH and Floyd broke records and Floyd and Ricky Hatton comes second. Matter of fact Roy Jones and Felix did like 500,000 pay per view sells. You can ask anyboy in the fight world who was the best 3 fights this year and last year and it was boxing. Try Paciao vs. Marquez 2 or Vaquez vs. Marquez 3. I like MMA but I get tired of the boxing bashing. MMA is MMA and Boxing is Boxing. I know people who don't give a hoot about MMA. Futhermore I might be inclined to question your knowledge of MMA being you only mention UFC fighters and didnt mention Fedor. Secondly when Chuck has won 1 out his last 3, Forrest Griffiin was giving a gift win, and BJ Penn wasted the prime of his career thinking he was the second coming and not training. THe only stud in our little list is Spider. Also James Toney may be heavy but when it comes to his craft he is one of the best to ever do it. In a boxing ring Ill put in any MMa fighter against him. I bet he runs thru them. And lastly ever MMA event is Fireworks is a straight balled face lie. All the wrestling and grappling isn't exciting unliss your Frank Mir or some member of the Gracie fam. Quit gasing MMA it has some great fighters but don't try bashing boxing to hype it up. If UFC and MMA fighters were levels above fighters han boxers. Lets see. Calzage has hurt his hand Roy Jones has nothing to do until November. Spider called him out in a BOXING match. Tell Dana to let it happen since he feels the way you do. I bet he won't because a 40 yr old gone wipe the floor with the best p4p MMa fighter in the world right now. Period different styles of fighting let it stay just that different don't compare them.

yes boxing has takened a blackeye for awhile. No real champs out there. Miguel Cotta is one of the 3 best and the other 2 are Antonio Margarita and Manny P. You can also include Kelly P.

Norman, you're correct, any true boxing fan understands the amount of excellent talent, and where it's located. Simply look at the amazing Vasquez Marquez trilogy - nothing in recent MMA was nearly as violent. The talent is there, and more is coming (Berto, Valero). Boxing is not nearly as "dead" as many claim, hell, this weekend fight alone has the potential to be a great memorable war. And yet, on the eve of Cotto Margarito, Cofield provides us with Mayweather crapola, as if this story defines what educated boxing fans want to read. Cofield, please keep your enquirer style writing within the MMA fold, its more appreciated there (sigh).

I would love to see Mayweather get KO'd. Its never going to be in the ring, so in a nightclub will have to do!

all respect to mayweather on his occomplishments and winning championships in different wieght classes but to me and many other fight fans,he would not be considered to be a hall of famer because he dodged certain fighters that would have given him problems. And for him to retire before a schedualed fight with Delahoya was a sign of a coward.Maybe he knew Delahoya would have givin him his first loss.I consider fighter like Paqiou, cotto and marquez to be pound for pound kings,i forgot calzaque and kelly.

And one other thing for you MMA freaks.. Do you know that your sport is hugely popular in the gay community due mainly to the grappling... Hey why not.. If I were gay I too would love watching sweaty men roll around on the ground trying to 'mount' each other.. In fact your sport considers a "full mount" a good thing.. MMA is strangely homoerotic.. And many fight fans would rather see two men have to keep it on their feet.I prefer a fight where going to the ground either means you got clocked, or KO'd.. If your fighters are so far superior, why not step over to boxing, take a title, make a few million, and do both?? Yeah.. I didnt think so...

MMA will be much better, one single round, no time limit. Last man standing wins.
In Floyds case, experience figthers knows once your outside the ring w/o cloves, no referees and rules it only takes split seconds even realizing what just happened. With all scientific understanding a small guy at 50/50 can always beat a heavier opponent. Even a champion falls or have his butt kicked by a mere nerd or geek..

mayweather may have won on points against oscar, but he never dropped oscar or at any time got oscar in
trouble. i had never seen the challenger win a decision by doing nothing but running. oh wait mayweather is
a defensive genius, right. no wonder why he has no fans.

When are people going to realize boxing and mma are two different sports. Roy jones is a phenomenal boxer that would demolish silva in a boxing match just like silva is a phenomenal mma fighter and would demolish roy jones in an mma match. I'm sorry, in a boxing those gloves nullify alot of that punching power so you're not gonna be seeing silva knock people out with one punch like he did to the sandman.

I just wonder, how these we call Men of MMA fought when they were growing up. At home, neighbors at school. They probably doesn't even know how to punch right. Just keep on swinging the fist and arms like freestyle swimming. Doesn't matter where it lands. Heads down, while launching couldn't see the target. That is why they like MMA, it suits they're great skill capabilities of gentle Men fighting.
All I need, is a sharpie struck into they're nosetrills and let them think whats the next MMA counter move to that attack. By the time they consider HUGGING me to the ground, teardrops falling from their eyes and I am twisting they're ears to RED WHITE AND BLUE...

Norman good point.. MMA still resembles more of a Toughman competition than anything except for the top few fighters. Brock Lesnar would give up boxing if he tried coz he would get tired of taking whippings in the gym with no payday. In MMA he has a chance to take someone down and pound them out. He would of Pounded out Mir is the ref didn't bail him (Mir) out with that bogus call.. Even Mir admitted he was in trouble..

No boxing fan wants to admit whats going on people are tired of seeing guys like Bernard Hopkins do nothing but hold & headbut go 12 rounds a pull out a bogus victory, thats the problem with boxing to many fighters pull out victories because of their name not their in ring abilities, and until they get their act straight boxing will continue to bleed to death

Ok Axe Murder. As opposed to the Griffin Rampage fight which was a love fest but for a few shots and a horrible decision... I will admit boxing lays some eggs now and then.. That is the fight game. But so does MMA.. How was it that Irvin did with Silva?? After all that hype?? And how bout the co main on the Griffin Page card with cote??/ I almost fell asleep.. That is fighting.. Some good, some bad.. But MMA lays eggs too...

The more you say, the more you prove my point. do you think anyone in the world gives a turd or even knows who griffin is?? I spent a lot of time in thailand and even there they know the local muay thai fighters, but mma guys are not even on the map.. but boxers are... especially the ones you named... "punk"..

Yeah people outside of the US might know more about boxing than mma but I dare you to find one person that knows the name of any current young boxer insted of the old folks you talk about thumbs it won't happen baby. MMA might have some boring fights every now & again but a 25 min is less time than a 12 round 36 min ball buster. MMA is still in it's infancy compared to boxing & it's still taking boxings place as the #1 combat sport hell K-1 is way better than boxing I would love to see boxings pound for pound king Manny P. step in in the ring with Shinya Aoki, Aoki would rush him take him down and proceed to choke him unconsouse or even better rip his arm off & take it home to put on his mantel

AxeMurder, you do realize that MMA and Boxing are two different sports and that no boxing vs MMA fight could actually exist? Therefore you either fight in one discipline - or the other. MMA guys win at MMA, Boxers win in Boxing. Its really that simple, even for a moron! Hey, I enjoy both sports, and I've seen my fair share "boring" MMA fights. As good as MMA is, it pales compared to a great boxing match. Boxing is far more brutal sport, these guys "hurt" each other. Look at the Vasquez Marquez trilogy, a brutal slugfest, nothing in recent MMA history comes close. But I confess, some boxers are too old and should retire, I'm sick of Hopkins, Del A Hoya, Winky and even the "slapper" Calzaghe ... who is one of the most overrated boxers I've ever seen and I've been watching Boxing for over 25 years.
