Dave Meltzer joins Yahoo! Sports

It is with great pleasure that I announce the addition of Dave Meltzer to the Yahoo! Sports staff as a mixed martial arts reporter.

Dave has run the Wrestling Observer, the leading professional wrestling industry trade publication, for a quarter-century.

Meltzer has covered MMA since UFC 1 in 1993, which gives him a perspective on the sport's history that few can match.

In addition to the Observer, which he will continue to publish, Meltzer has written for The National, LATimes.com and FOXSports.com. Meltzer also votes in the Y! Sports MMA monthly Top 10 poll.

Meltzer is the latest addition to an MMA/boxing team that includes award-winning reporter Kevin Iole and content partnerships with MMAjunkie.com, MMAWeekly.com, and The Fight Network. And we're not done yet, so stay tuned.

A horrible writer, obviously his interest in muscle-bound men is a bit over the top....his work reads like sidney sheldon smoking blocks.........An embarassment to the industry........Where's Frank Shamrock? He'd be better....

can't be too hard on Iole either.................his prose rivals that of the great intellectuals of our time....Vonnegut, Havel, Vidal................I'd even say it has a Dickens-ish quality about it......He truly makes us realize the magic of this pure competition................................

The UFC is a real as gets and anyone who thinks otherwise is a absolute Moron. Just watch the last few events in the last year or so and anyone with a half a clue can easily see that it is not fake with all the upsets and ruined potential super matches. If it was fake would Chuck have lost considering he was the face of UFC and by him losing ruining a super match between him and Silva. That wouldn't very smart from a marketing stand point now would it if you had control over who wins would have try to line up the biggest names to win?

Sports writers are nothing more than little dorks who couldn't cut it in athletics. Who cares what their opinions/views are.
