If Yahoo! Sports were serious about Boxing, they'd include a blogger who actually blogs more than once a month and actually had a positive outlook on the sport. Until then ...

Mangler, in the PBF/JMM fight I am optimistic JMM will pull-off an upset... Everyone is expecting PBF to be successful, however it will be a tough fight for both.... Mayweather hasn’t been active in the ring for over a year and Marquez is moving up in weight again!!!! How do you see it???
For Pacman’s Oct fight don’t forget to also consider winner between Cotto vs. Clottey.... I’m expecting Cotto to Win that fight!!!

What in the world is going on in Boxing, Is every fighter getting striped of his belt.
I can't remember such a thing, when Fighter's refuse to fight. Why in the Hell would you want or even become a Fighter if you refuse to fight. I'm not that old but I have seen my share of fights and study the sports some, with it's history of Fighter's. And let me tell you some of the old guys are turning in their grave. A Boxer is a Warrior, a Gladiator even more. This is what he trains for, lives for, to fight and win. I understand the money game of it. But to just flat out refuse to fight or even WORST not make weight, is crazy. That's my bit, I'll do you like the farmer did the potato, I'll plant you now and dig you later.

Hi Mangler, I'm a huge Marquez fan. Consider this ... after Marquez fought Pacman not only did he survive two brutal wars - he became a much better fighter after. Who else can claim that? Marco was never quite the same. Erik, even after beating Pac, was certainly damaged goods. DLH was forced into retirement. Hatton should consider retirement, and Diaz still hasn't fought. I respect Floyd's skills, but I'm not a fan. Past Hatton & Judah, I've not been impressed with him since Castillo & Corrales. The DLH fight was total crap, he looked totally unimpressive against a journeyman in Baldomir, he beat a very damaged Shambra and an old "club" fighter in Gatti, he fought an overrated Bruseles who pads his record against mostly bums, he couldn't finish Corley who had only won 3 of 12 fights between 03-08. And now he's decided to fight a much smaller man in JMM?

Anthony B, you are correct! Marquez have gone a long way! After his first match with Pacquiao, JMM won 7 straight fights, defeating Barrera in the process, capturing the WBC superfeatherweight title. Although, I am a Pacquiao fan, I have nothing bad to say about JMM. He is a soft-spoken and fine gentleman at that.
Yes, Floyd is overrated. His record needs scrutiny. He fought a bunch of journeymen, overrated and over the hill boxers. His fight with Castillo should have been in Castillo's favor. Corrales had no defensive move - he was like a tow train - going forward all the time and in the end he received all of Floyd's punches.
JMM has chance to win against Floyd.Winning %, maybe higher!

There is just to much hype about Floyd I think this time around JMM is going to be the talk for years to come JMM has a greater chance then any other boxer stepping in the ring and actually be a storm for Floyd finally they pick the right fighter a true believer in the sport a Mexican who CAN proof the world what a warrior he is inside out even if he loose to Floyd, which i dought gaining weight for the fight is no joke JMM has taken tittles from the best just as well as Floyd the only difference between them is that JMM is a full time fighter and champion I can't say the same for GOOD LUCK Floyd. Hopefully JMM Knows that to fight Floyd is like fighting a track and field runner and the only thing Floyd should know is that JMM is not your avg. Championship fighter he is a legend. in many eyes not just a show maker. This is a great and exciting match up. not like Golden Boy Oscar and Good Luck showmen Floyd Jr. last match up that was a ripeoff fight hopefully the juges see the fight for what it is not for what it turns out to be like always for Floyd a glinch in the juge score cards.

going on record....this will be a walk in the park for Floyd....ill be back here with a plate of crow and fork if he loses, but thats not going to happen...hes much bigger and much stronger and more importantly, even though hes bigger, hes still FASTER...but go ahead and say Floyd fought a whos who of nobodies blah blah blah...its the same old story for people who dont like him as a person so they refuse to acknowledge him as the great fighter he is...plain and simple....

The Cotto-Clottey fight is an interesting matchup. Most think that Cotto will win decisively but I'm going to go out on a limb and picking Clottey. The fight is intriguing in the fact that Clottey is strong as a bull and takes a great punch (He gives a good one too) He fires straight punches which is always better that looping punches. But I give Cotto the edge in boxing abilitiy due to superior lateral movement but he has been known to fade in the later rounds and he is best when applying pressure as opposed to being pressured. I'm not sure if he's completely recovered from Marguarito. Suspicion is that Marguarito had loaded gloves in their fight but that was never confirmed, but it does cast doubt on all his prior victories. If that was the case; shame on both Marguarito and shame on whoever in Cotto's camp responsible for checking the wraps and possibly overlooked the infraction. Clottey is a straightforward fighter with skills. Though he is the underdog, I'm picking Clottey via late TKO.

Floyd is a great fighter can't argue there but the fact of the matter is why doesn't he goes after Mosley some one who is a even better oppnent then JMM with the same ability like him instead to Big of a challenge this time around?

For one, Floyd has been off for 19 months, thats why he chose this fight FIRST...i just dont understand the logic behind people wanting floyd to fight manny but if he wants to JMM then hes picking the easier fight....against a guy who most feel beat manny twice and is number two on most P4P lists...its a argument that contradicts itself over and over again...i agree that he should, at some point fight shane, cotto, even margarito but by no standards is this fight cherry picked...even though i think he will win going away...

The fight was a draw at best, what I mean is that Cotto would have been fortunate to get that. The scores were ridiculous to say the least (116-111). I give Cotto credit for having heart but he lost that fight and the punch stats were a excellent indicator of that. Hats off to Clottey and Cotto. Both put up a good fight. Now to the real deal which is Mayweather-Marquez. There's gonna be a lot of debate and a whole lot of flim-flammin when folks get a glimpse of the best and most pure boxer out there. PBF is gonna starch Marquez. Nobody better at breaking down another fighters strenths than PBF. Pacman fans are be just as loud as they are now but it'll all be wishful thinkin. Get ready for the sign of things to come for PacMan if he ever is really foolish enough to climb in the ropes with PBF.

It's been a long time since i blogged but I'm back fellas. Let me start with Cotto-Clottey...Real good fight could've gone either way but I had it 114-113 Cotto only b/c the first round knock down where Clottey was obviously just off balance. I was a little confused as to why Cotto back off Clottey in the rounds where he had him pinned in the corner and was breaking through his defense. Great fight though.
Now PBF and JMM although its postponed due to PBF's rib injury I honestly think JMM is about to get ran through. Don't get me wrong I like JMM but PBF is just faster and bigger. Let alone PBF has solid power in both hands. Also it's a fact the JMM is a counter-puncher so I give this fight to PBF without a doubt.
If PBF wins we'll see PBF-Pacman in 2010 b/c what I've heard is that Top Rank is really pushing for a Cotto - Pacman fight and they've already got a venue reserved. On the other hand Clottey has said he wants a piece of Mosley and..wait for it...wait for it...and Paul Williams. Mosley maybe a good fight..but Williams..no way he can get past the Punisher

Nut, Pac has been one of the busiest fighters, fighting 2 to 3 times per year. November 14/2009 ... Pacman is slated to fight Cotto (subject to approval/change).

The Pacman - Cotto fight will sell big time tickets. My question is..do you guys think that when Pacman puts the pressure on Cotto will he go to lateral movement (some call it running)? I would hope not being that he will be the bigger fighter but Pacman is the faster fighter and good strength.

NEL, I think Pac will destroy Cotto with relative ease. I'm a big Cotto fan, but he is not the same fighter he was pre-Margo. He certainly get off slower, and seems damaged. In 2005, DeMarcus Corley buckled Cotto's knees, but couldn't finish him ... Pac on the other hand, will send him to hospital. That said, I have a sneaking suspicion that this fight is simply posturing, and that Mayweather really isn't hurt. Pac/PBF represents the biggest payday (by far) for both fighters, therefore (just a hunch on my part) I think this is the "mega" fight that's currently being negotiated.
