Boxing media looks for Pacman to roll

In spite of all the talk earlier in the week that the Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton fight was somehow for the title of pound-for-pound best, the media isn't truly buying that Hatton has a shot. It was Pacquiao in a landslide in the Las Vegas Review-Journal media poll.

The only folks picking Hatton were Chuck Johnson and Bert Sugar both from HBO and Chris Maathuis from CBS in Las Vegas. Even the British media members in the poll, Simon Lewis, John Dirs, Mike Costello, John Welsh and Gareth A. Davies all tabbed Pacman. The total was 23-3 for Pacquiao with 13 saying he'll finish the fight by knockout or technical knockout. Most finishes were in rounds 8-10 which makes betting the length of the fight an interesting proposition.

Pacquiao is a big favorite ranging anywhere from -250 to -280. The public is generally  wary of laying a big number so many more shooting for Pacman KO. On Thursday, over 9 1/2 rounds was -150. By Friday afternoon, it had dropped to -130.

Don't forget that this same media poll also had Miguel Cotto winning in a landslide against Antonio Margarito. Cotto may have also fallen victim to Margarito's cement hands shenanigans in that fight.

Check out the picks:

Al Bernstein, Showtime -- Pacquiao by decision
Kevin Blackistone, AOL Sports -- Pacquiao by decision
Steve Carp, Las Vegas Review-Journal -- Pacquiao by TKO 9
Steve Cofield, ESPN 1100 -- Pacquiao by TKO 9

I bet $1k for Manny under 6 rounds. Wish both fighters wells, and hope that they really trained well. I predict Hatton will not jump start, Manny will. This is for the books a good fight and for Hatton to show that his not overated.

even though this fight is a no brainer the real good one between mayweather and marquez is not. pretty boy was a little over his limit by taking this fight coming right out of retirement. i know its all about the money with floyd but maybe if he still has time he should pull up lame or fake some kind of boxing related injury and put this fight off until further notice. taking this fight could end up costing him more money then if he was to tune up against a few 2nd or 3rds or even some guys a little long in the tooth. prediction manny in 7 rounds by early stoppage.

And hey give the guy some respect. Great Mexican boxers fall at his power and speed. Hatton is no different with the outcome of the match.

So, any thoughts on how the Pac-Man destroyed the so-called Hitman in just 2 rounds? Pretty embarrassing end for a fighter who displayed bravado when not in the ring!

Pacquiao by decision.... Yeah, Manny Pacquiao decided to end it quickly. Tom Jones should have sung "God Save Ricky Hatton" instead.

Bert Sugar picks Hatton by decision.
And he has the unmitigated gall to refer to himself as a boxing historian.
The guy is a complete joke, an embarrassment.
He should be put put to pasture.
He is the worst I have ever seen.

Hatton is nothing but a club fighter.
If he had fought in the US instead of the UK, he would have had double digit losses by now.
One Ricky Hatton is way TOOOOOOO much.
There should be NO Ricky Hattons.

Mayweather KO'ed Hatton in 10 in his prime... who's to say Pacquiao can't handle him? I think Marquez will mop the floor with him first before he ever gets to Pacquiao
