He wasn't the biggest heavyweight but Michael Moorer found a way to bank 52 wins and grab two world titles mostly because of his superior technical ability in a rough and tumble division. Moorer picked up much of his boxing acumen from one of the masters, Teddy Atlas. Now he's using his keen eye to assist Freddie Roach in the molding of Manny Pacquiao. In the gym, he plays a role similar to a consultant, watching from a distance. He's also great in the film room where he says all of Ricky Hatton's flaws are easy to diagnose:

"Ricky Hatton comes in with his hands down and his head up," Moorer told ESPNRadio1100 in Las Vegas. "He comes in off-balance all the time. When he's coming into Manny, all (Pacquiao) has to do is move his feet and counter him."

Hatton may be a champion but Moorer doesn't think he's at that special level like Pacquaio, who hasn't lost since 2005:

"Ricky Hatton, a good fighter (but) overrated," said Moorer. "He hasn't fought the caliber of fighters that Manny Pacquiao has fought. Manny Pacquiao is a totally different fighter (than he's fought). The footspeed, the handspeed, the power ... woo, it's gonna be a lot of hurt."

Listen to Moorer talk about Manny's lifestyle, Hatton's weaknesses and recently meeting former President Bill Clinton:

Clinton met with the Pacquiao group on Wednesday night at the Four Seasons Hotel adjacent to the Mandalay Bay. Moorer was wowed by the fact that the former president knew so much about boxing. Listen here to the entire interview with Moorer.

Good one Cofield. Moorer and I see eye to eye. Hatton is overrated ( but his body shots are insane, if he can land them ). Pac-man in 8 TKO.

yep. i know mayweather was the top dog, but still, hatton got schooled in that fight. i dont know if hatton can weather the storm that just keeps pouring in pac mans punches. he took punches in bunches to the 10th power. i think fat boy will be a bit overwhelmed. the nice thing is, you know hatton will bring it, but yeah, he's going to sleep.

    nut,
kirkland was a late scratch....apparently hes still in jail on gun charges....Cofield posted a blog about it a few days back...Daniel Jacobs is filling in on 7 days rest for him....Should be interesting to see if he can bang on such short notice.....Pacman: Technically far superior and just too fast for Hatton. This isnt Pauli hes fighting...Screw the size, Pac via 8th round TKO

Can't they just fight already! I'm so excited for this fight. The last boxer that gave me this pumped up feeling was Tyson when he was going to fight Lewis. After that, few other matches sparked my interest until I slowly embraced MMA. I have yet to see Pacman in a boring fight so I know this one will be good on TV.
No MMA is superior rants for now. This day and tomorrow belongs to boxing. But after this fight, I'll return to my usual self, criticizing boring boxing matches and fighters and stating the always obvious. And that's the truth! (^^,

thanks firehorse....you do the same....after Rafael on espn announced the Mayweather comback (which imo makes it valid) i think we should all, as boxing fans, hope for a Pacman win....No one wants to see Mayweather school Hatton again....i think Mayweather beats JMM rather easily in a boring fight.....Two extremely technical counter punchers doesnt usually make for the most exciting fight...that said, i think JMM will quickly find out that he cant counter Money which might encourage him to be the aggressor and try to bang...Bad move if you ask me...that aggresive mentality doesnt ever work out for PBF opponents (see chico, gatti, baldomir, hatton, etc)...thats why i think a Paul WIlliams match would be very interesting because of the body of work, movement, and sheer punch output he puts into every round...will never happpen, though, as Paul doesnt command the numbers that make so much sense in terms of money (ahh the pun)....in a perfect world Money fights JMM, Pacman, Mosley or Cotto, then Willams....hopefully by then hes got a bigger following that could make him more enticing as an opponent...

Moorer should learn not to speak bad about people he might have to work with in the future, Roach has been very wise not to say anything bad about Hatton!
