Yankees fan Vinny Milano creates T-shirt that honors Alex Rodriguez

Derek Jeter wrote a memorable final chapter to his sure-to-be Hall of Fame career last week. The former New York Yankees shortstop (that's gonna take some getting used to) hit a walk-off single in his last game at Yankee Stadium on Thursday. Then, The Captain closed out his 20-year big-league run Sunday with an RBI single at Fenway Park. All the while, plenty of fans donned the #RE2PECT gear Nike put out this season to honor Jeter. Well, ballpark salesman Vinny Milano has an alternative for Yankee fans in 2015.

Milano, who has been hawking gear outside Yankee Stadium since 1999 and operates his own website, created a variation of the uniform number/word mashup with a nod to Alex Rodriguez. The suspended slugger is expected to be back in pinstripes next season. As for any infringement with the athletic apparel giant's Jeter campaign, Milano told Yahoo Sports, "It's a different word than what Nike used. I don't see why they would come after me. They own #Re2pect. This is clearly different." And evidently, there's high demand for the shirts — which sell for $20. Milano is already on his second printing after the first batch sold out in a week.

"I'm a fan of supporting guys who need support," said the married father of two. "Anyone can cheer for the idol. I like to put my support behind people who could actually use some. And yes, I'm an A-Rod fan."
