Wayne Rooney accused of diving by Bastian Schweinsteiger

Bayern Munich and Manchester United played to a 1-1 draw Tuesday in the first leg of a Champions League quarterfinal. Nemanja Vidic got the Red Devils on the board in the 58th minute while Bastian Schweinsteiger notched the equalizer for the defending champs in the 66th minute. But it was a moment between United star Wayne Rooney and the Bayern vice-captain in the 90th minute that had Old Trafford buzzing. After the German drew a yellow card earlier in the second half, Rooney had possession late in the match when Schweinsteiger went in for the tackle.

The move earned Schweinsteiger a second booking and a red card — which also means he'll miss the second leg of the quarterfinal between the clubs next week. But do you think Rooney was hamming it up? Schweinsteiger sure did. After exchanging words with Rooney, the midfielder gave the United forward the Dikembe Mutombo-esque finger wag, as if to shame Rooney for his theatrics. Bayern manager Pep Guardiola agreed, making a hand gesture accusing Rooney of a dive as well.
