Minnesota Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe had a home run taken away from him this past Thursday by Kansas City Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain at Target Field. So Plouffe knows a thing or two about great grabs. With the same two American League Central teams facing off Monday night — this time at Kauffman Stadium — it was Plouffe's turn to make a jaw-dropping catch.
With the Twins down 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth and two outs, Alex Gordon hit a pop-up down the third-base line. Plouffe tracked the ball into foul territory, where he then collided with a rail. The fourth-year player went head over heels into a cut-out and somehow hung on to the ball. Unfortunately for Minnesota fans, that was the lone highlight of the night as the Royals won 13-0.
Moving to NFL news, Vince Young signed a one-year deal with the Green Bay Packers. The 2006 Offensive Rookie of the Year will compete with Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman to be Aaron Rodgers' backup.
And LSU reinstated Jeremy Hill — for now. The sophomore running back had his probation extended but may still miss time due to legal troubles.
