Russell Westbrook is one of the best players in the NBA. But the 3-time All-Star had a moment Thursday night at Madison Square Garden he’d probably like to forget As the game was just getting underway, the Oklahoma City guard picked Raymond Felton’s pocket perfectly for one of his two steals on the evening. But when it came to converting the bunny, Westbrook had issues. It was as if there was a lid on the bucket. The OKC star wound up with 21 points – but he probably should’ve had two more. In the end, it didn't matter. The Thunder beat the Knicks 95-94.
Moving to the college game, defending national champion Kentucky’s hopes of getting back to the Big Dance took a serious blow with a 72-62 loss at Georgia. The Wildcats are very much in danger of becoming the third title winner in the last six years (joining Florida in 2008 and North Carolina in 2010) to miss the NCAA Tournament a year after cutting down the nets.
And you have to love the unique giveaway coming to Wrigley Field on June 1st. Gold Glove-winning second baseman Darwin Barney will be honored with a bobblehead in his likeness – while a thousand lucky fans will get a version of the doll decked out in gold. Somebody call Goldmember.
