Reilly Smith goal goes between legs of three players as Bruins drop Game 1 to Canadiens

Prior to Thursday night, most hockey fans may have known Boston Bruins right wing Reilly Smith for being part of a blockbuster deal that sent Tyler Seguin to the Dallas Stars last summer. But thanks to a miraculous, seeing-eye goal against the Montreal Canadiens in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, the 23-year-old has a new claim to fame.

With Boston trailing 2-0 in the third period, Smith's tally came on a ridiculous angle while being closely checked by Montreal defenseman Andrei Markov. The wicked shot not only went between Markov's legs but also through teammate Patrice Bergeron and Habs blue-liner Alexei Emelin. Goalie Carey Price never even saw it. And while Smith may have had the coolest goal of the game, P.K. Subban had the most important one. Subban's game-winner ended it in double-overtime for a 4-3 Canadiens victory.

Moving to the NBA, Atlanta Hawks reserve power forward Mike Scott threw down the dunk of the first round on Indiana Pacers big man Ian Mahinmi. But it was Indiana that escaped with 95-88 victory to force a Game 7 Saturday.
