Pee-wee Herman impressed by Chandler Jones’ sack dance

You might not tab New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones as a big Pee-wee Herman fan. After all, the second-year player out of Syracuse was born in 1990 — the final year Pee-wee's Playhouse aired on CBS. But Jones paid tribute to the character Paul Reubens made famous during the fourth quarter of the Pats' game against the New Orleans Saints Sunday — much to the delight of the 61-year-old actor/comedian. After sacking Drew Brees early in the fourth, Jones celebrated by doing Pee-wee's infamous 'Tequila' dance. The move evidently caught the attention of Reubens, who tweeted his support:

Which prompted this tweet from Jones:

As the game wore on though, it seemed the chances of New England winning were about as likely as The Alamo having a basement. Many fans even left Gillette Stadium early. But those who departed prematurely missed Brady's improbable game-winning touchdown to Kenbrell Thompkins with five seconds to go as the Patriots won 30-27.

Not every tweet in the sports world prompted the same love fest though. Remember this gem from Caroline Wozniacki last month:

According to multiple reports, the embarrassing photo was enough to make Rory McIlroy break up with the tennis star and girlfriend of two years. Wozniacki still has a photo up of the pair on the social media website as her profile picture.

Finally, the Boston Red Sox got a dramatic game-tying grand slam in the eighth inning from David Ortiz in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers. Then in the ninth, Jarrod Saltalamacchia drove in the game-winner as the Sox won 6-5 to even the series at a game apiece.
