Nori Aoki has had a run of bad luck. First, the Kansas City Royals outfielder had possibly the worst swing of the season last week on a pitch that nearly hit him. Then, he wasn't able to come up with a fly ball that hit him in a sensitive area. Thursday, Aoki was hit in the batting helmet on a toss back to Michael Wacha by St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina.
Thankfully, Aoki was OK and stayed in the game. He even had a key RBI double that was part of a three-run K.C. rally in the sixth inning to overcome a 2-0 deficit and beat the Cards 3-2. Hopefully, the 32-year-old will have better mojo moving forward.
Moving to Game 1 of the NBA Finals, LeBron James departed for good with 3:59 left in the fourth quarter battling cramps as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Miami Heat 110-95. The sweltering conditions inside the AT&T Center due to a broken air conditioning system surely had an effect on James, who achieved more postseason history in defeat.
