Michael Jordan sinks long chip shot at his own golf tournament

Yahoo Sports Minute

Michael Jordan's accomplishments on the basketball court speak for themselves. From hitting the game-winning shot to help North Carolina capture a national championship as a freshman to that bucket over Bryon Russell in the 1998 NBA Finals (not to mention his first field goal as a Tar Heel), MJ has done it all on the hardwood. His achievements on the golf course are considerably less noteworthy. But a moment enjoyed by His Airness during the 13th Annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational won't soon be forgotten. Jordan buried a 50-foot chip shot just off the 17th green at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas that many players on the PGA Tour would be envious of. As you might imagine, the man considered to be the greatest basketball player of all-time had a priceless reaction after the shot went in. As for the tournament itself, former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher and 7-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens teamed up to take home top honors.

Speaking of MJ …

Moving to the NBA, Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant scored 38 points in a 122-115 loss to the Phoenix Suns Sunday, surpassing Jordan with his 41st consecutive game of 25 or more. Durant now trails only Oscar Robertson, who scored 25 or more in 46 straight during the 1963-64 season and Wilt Chamberlain, who scored at least 25 points in all 80 games of the 1961-62 season. When asked about the mark, Durant seemed less than thrilled.

Something different

Finally in baseball, Oakland A's pitcher Sonny Gray completed one of the most unlikely plays you'll ever see on the diamond during the sixth inning of Oakland's 6-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners. M's third baseman Kyle Seager lined a shot down the right-field line. The ball caromed off first base — right into Gray's glove for the unassisted putout.
