Manny Pacquio had a pillow fight with Miss USA

Video of Manny Pacquiao squaring off against Miss USA Erin Brady during a taping of Crowd Goes Wild on Thursday supports the popular notion that pillow fighting is for girls. This is not to say anything general about fighting and gender, but rather to make clear that Brady clearly had a killer instinct with the pillow once host Regis Philbin began the friendly match. Pacquiao on the other hand was relegated to ducking and dancing around the ring, defensively (while smiling). Not that anyone was expecting the defending welterweight champ to bring the same kind of intensity to this 'fight' as he no doubt will during his rematch with Tim Bradley on April 12, but it is amusing to watch his bout with Miss USA and wonder if Manny's ever actually swung a pillow before.

Preliminary drama in Sochi

While the opening ceremonies hadn't yet taken place, the 2014 Winter Olympic Games officially began on Thursday with preliminary rounds of snowboarding, freestyle skiing and the figure skating team competition. The team competition may be a new Olympic event in figure skating, but it delivered more than its fair share of drama to kick things off. During his Men's Short routine, American hopeful Jeremy Abbott tumbled, as did Marissa Castelli during a Salchow attempt with partner Simon Shnapir in the Pair's Short routine. The stumbles left the door wide open for the rest of the field. The Russians quickly capitalized behind brilliant performances by Evgeni Plushenko and the pair's team of Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov, and seized the lead in the battle for team gold heading into the Women's Short and Dance routines Saturday.
