Kevin Durant’s Seattle return a memorable one

Kevin Durant has never hid his appreciation for Seattle. So when the Oklahoma City Thunder star paid a visit to the city he won the 2008 NBA Rookie of the Year in for the first time since the franchise controversially left, you can imagine it was a special night.

Durant poured in 63 points (on 26-for-62 shooting) in a 147-141 overtime loss to a team led by Los Angeles Clippers guard (and Seattle native) Jamal Crawford in a summer pro-am game organized by Crawford. “He reached out to me to come perform in front of you guys,” Crawford told the crowd of roughly 3,000 fans that packed the Seattle Pacific University gym. “He loves Seattle. He took his own jet. He spent a lot of money to come up here and perform for you guys, so you guys show him some love.” Show him love they did. Durant added, “I had some fun times in Seattle. I just want to say I miss you guys. Thank you for the warm welcome. I can’t wait to come back.” The four-time All-Star then signed autographs and posed for pictures for nearly an hour after the game and went to Twitter to continue the lovefest:
