Jay Cutler hosts ’80s theme party

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler started the Jay Cutler Foundation during the 2007 offseason. The following year, the Vanderbilt product revealed he had been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Since then, the seven-year NFL veteran has been very active in raising awareness about the disease. Cutler's "'80s Dance Party for Diabetes" on Thursday in the Windy City helped the cause even more.

Proceeds from the theme soiree, which featured a live performance by Grammy Award-winning recording artist Billy Ocean, went to the foundation. But how about the outfits worn by Cutler and his new wife, reality TV star Kristin Cavallari? Cutler donned a pink D.A.R.E. t-shirt and bright orange shorts while the former Laguna Beach star donned a leopard-print top with Hot Pants. As for the football side of things, Cutler and his teammates start training camp next Thursday under new head coach Marc Trestman. Wonder if the qb-coach combo will talk about this tidbit?

Meanwhile in hoops news, Los Angeles Lakers Vice President Jim Buss told NBA TV that Kobe Bryant will "probably" be ready to play in the upcoming preseason. The Black Mamba suffered a ruptured Achilles April 12th. The team's first exhibition game is October 5th.

Finally, the New York Yankees confirmed that Alex Rodriguez will rejoin the team this Monday barring any setbacks as he completes his rehab assignment.
