A.J. Burnett’s rosin bag explodes again

Yahoo Sports Minute

Remember when the rosin bag exploded on Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher A.J. Burnett during his start against the Chicago Cubs on Opening Day? Well, it happened again Sunday afternoon.

The hurler - who was making his first start since June 8 after missing almost a month with a sore right calf - walked Wellington Castillo with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning. When Burnett tapped the piece of equipment on his right hip, its contents came out on to the field. The right-hander then looked towards the Pittsburgh dugout and appeared to say, "That's twice!" An eventual replacement came from the Chicago dugout and Burnett struck out Brian Bogusevic to end the inning. The Cubs beat the Buccos 4-3 in 11 innings.

Meanwhile in NBA Summer League action, new Brooklyn Nets head coach Jason Kidd had quite the debut. The 40-year old gave fist bumps to anyone within five feet of him before his team's game against the Detroit Pistons. Later in the contest, he drew a technical foul for being too far outside of the coaching box. "I won't do that again. This is summer school for me," said Kidd via Ethan Skolnick of The Palm Beach Post's Twitter account.

Finally, Andy Murray became the first Brit to win the men's singles title at Wimbledon since Fred Perry did it in 1936. Murray defeated Novak Djokovic in three sets.
