Dreadful pass in Big East tourney turns into spectacular fluke

Yahoo Sports Minute

Sometimes an attempt is so bad it's good. This was the case for Creighton's Devin Brooks against DePaul in the Big East tournament Thursday on Fox Sports 1. With just under nine minutes to go in the contest, Brooks tried to lob the ball to a teammate for what appeared to be an alley-oop attempt. Brooks's pass however went nowhere near the intended target, and instead drilled the side of the backboard. But as fate would have it, the ball deflected right to teammate Austin Chatman standing beyond the three-point arc. Chatman wasted no time making good on the fluky bounce, draining the three to go up thirteen. Creighton would go on to win 84-62.

Dwight dawns on Marblehead

Finding himself double-teamed under the hoop by two Oklahoma City Thunder players, Dwight Howard dished the ball to an open Omer Asik. The only problem was that Asik was standing out of bounds — because he wasn't even checked into the game. Apparently, as he was loosening up on the sidelines without his warm-up gear on, he appeared to be a good option for Howard.

Good hit. Wrong guy.

Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf may have notched his biggest hit of the week on teammate James Van Riemsdyk. While trying to line up San Jose Sharks forward Patrick Marleau for a vicious check in the third period, Phaneuf instead took out the player next to him, Van Riemsdyk.

LeBron's spokesman snafu

LeBron James tweeted Wednesday that, "My phone just erased everything it had in it and rebooted. One of the sickest feelings I've ever had in my life." Minutes later, the tweet was swiftly deleted, perhaps because King James was reminded that he's one of Samsung's highest-paid spokespeople and the veritable face of the Samsung Galaxy smartphones he seemed to be complaining about. Oops.
