Derek Jeter fakes out Jason Kipnis on foul pop to help induce double play

Yahoo Sports Minute

Derek Jeter played in Cleveland on Monday night. And while the New York Yankees shortstop went 1-for-4 at the plate and had an RBI in a 5-3 victory over the Indians, it was a play The Captain made on defense that was truly memorable.

With Jason Kipnis on first after reaching on an error and the Tribe down 5-3 with one out in the eighth inning, Asdrubal Cabrera hit a pop foul wide of third base. Kipnis broke for second on the pitch and was doubled off first by third baseman Zelous Wheeler for what turned out to be an inning-ending double play. So why didn't Kipnis retreat back to the bag sooner? Jeter tricked Kipnis and made him think Cabrera had hit a grounder. Once Kipnis slid past second to break up the fake double play, he was a goner. Classic Jeter.

Seeing red

Moving to soccer, Alhaji Kamara of IFK Norrköping (a Swedish professional team in Allsvenskan) had one of the best reactions to an ejection we've ever seen on the pitch. Once Kamara was whistled for a foul and given a second yellow card (which turned into a red card), the player simply ran off the field screaming.

Belieber

Finally in college basketball (and music) news, former Duke star and current ESPN analyst Jay Williams drew criticism on social media for a rather interesting tweet featuring himself and Justin Bieber.
