David Desharnais provides miraculous hand save, helps Canadiens shut out Bruins in Game 6

Montreal Canadiens center David Desharnais was born in 1986 — the same year a then 20-year-old goalie named Patrick Roy helped the Habs win their 23rd Stanley Cup title. Of course, Roy would later win another Cup with Montreal and two more with the Colorado Avalanche thanks to numerous memorable saves over a Hall of Fame career. The Canadiens' goalie these days is Carey Price. But it was Desharnais who had the save of Game 6 Monday night against the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

With Montreal up 3-0 midway through the third period, Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chára blasted a shot from the point that richocheted off Price's shoulder. Milan Lucic nearly poked the fluttering puck in. Jerome Iginla thought Lucic had, raising his arm in celebration. But Desharnais was able to clear the vulcanized rubber — which came tantalizingly close to going over the goal line — for one of the most most miraculous saves you'll ever see. Price finished with 26 saves in 4-0 shutout that forced Game 7 Wednesday. But it was Desharnais' save that stood out.

Hova, Bey and The King

Moving to hoops, LeBron James chatted up Jay Z and Beyonce (who were in the news for other reasons Monday) throughout Game 4 between the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets. James tied his career playoff-high with 49 points. But it was Chris Bosh who buried a clutch three in the final minute that helped Miami to a 102-96 victory and a 3-1 series lead.

Not again

Finally in baseball, Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez appears to be the latest pitcher headed for Tommy John surgery. The 21-year-old pitcher was placed on the disabled list with a sprained right elbow.
