Generally speaking, hockey players seem to be the most down-to-earth out of all professional athletes. NHLers have certainly taken the ugly Christmas sweater thing to a whole new level. So when Minnesota Wild center Charlie Coyle was captured waving to a young fan after the little guy got his attention by banging on the glass in a recent game, it should come as no surprise. But what about that moment of sheer elation by the kid that followed? How priceless is that?

As Puck Daddy Greg Wyshysnki points out, Coyle is pretty much still a kid himself. The 21-year-old moved back in with his parents in the offseason of his rookie year. So connecting with the younger demographic isn't a surprise. But it sure is cute!

A bolt from the blue

Moving to the NFL, the San Diego Chargers provided the blueprint on how to beat the Denver Broncos: keep Peyton Manning off the field. Philip Rivers and Co. upset the AFC's top team 27-20 to kick off Week 15 with a steady diet of Ryan Mathews. The running back carried the ball 29 times for 127 yards and scored a touchdown.
