Charles Barkley unimpressed with Inside the NBA jam session

Yahoo Sports Minute

Charles Barkley is no shrinking violet. In fact, he's quite the opposite. It takes a lot for the opinionated Basketball Hall of Famer to keep his mouth shut. But that's exactly what happened during Thursday night's edition of "Inside the NBA" on TNT — with hilarious results.

Barkley played the unlikely role of straight man while broadcast colleagues Shaquille O'Neal, Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith rattled off an impromptu jam session on the set. The whole bit was reminiscent of a performance the percussion group Stomp might put on. But Barkley was nonplussed. He never said anything or moved a muscle. He just sat there, unimpressed, with his elbow resting on the desk wand his left hand on his face the whole time. Sometimes silence speaks the loudest. We wonder what McKayla Maroney would think.

Just like he drew it up

Moving to hockey, Philadelphia Flyers center Claude Giroux made his 100th career goal a memorable one. Giroux scored what turned out to be the game-winner with a backhanded, blind, stumbling swing at the puck that helped Philly overcome a 3-0 deficit to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-4.

I shall call him Minitron

Finally in NFL news, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has come up with a nickname for wide receiver Julian Edelman: Minitron. The moniker is a play on Detroit Lions Calvin Johnson's handle, Megatron.
